So Frustrating!!!!

About 2 months ago I went out of town and just before I left I did a water change on my tanks. I forgot to plug in the auto-topoff after doing a last minuite water change on my frag tank and when I came back I found that I had lost 90% of the frags in there! My mistake.
I recently went on a Honeymoon and when I returned several of my corals had bleached white in my main aquarium!
Then just before I left today I checked all of the aquariums and everything was looking great. I got home about 5 hours later and went to check on the aquariums, I couldn't believe it....my 30 gallon frag tank was cloudy white - I lost everything! I had lots of frags in there, including frags of some of the ones that bleached in my main aquarium and was going to replace! and some other rare ones that I was eventually going to put in my new setup!
I felt the water and it was boiling hot! somehow the heater malfunctioned (the basement was not that hot).
I can see now why people get frustrated and leave the hobby! I am so dissappointed because I spent so much time raising those frags, doing water changes, changing sponges, cleaning filters, doing the daily chemical additions and feedings....
I feel like I am starting over :(

I definitely understand your frustration as I have been there. There is nothing worse than watching the fruits of your labors waste away in front of you. I make it a good point to bank corals, especially rare or unique ones, with friends to make sure that if I have an issue, I won't start completely from scratch.

Hang in there man, it happens to the best of us. Its the times like this that make the successes that much sweeter down the road.

Man so sorry to hear about your loss. I have been losing some choice corals in my tank also, but nothing like what you went through. I too bank my corals with some of the local reefers, in hopes that I can get a piece back in case anything like that happens. I don't know if I could start over after what you went through though. Putting so much into this hobby and seeing it go like that, can't even imagine it right now. Sorry again for your loss. I got 2 frags from you a while back and will be more than happy to give you a piece of it back once they grow enough for me to cut, if that helps out any.

I could be wrong Jeff but I think I got some leng sy cap from you at the swap. I'd be happy to break off a piece for you if needed.

Sorry to hear that. i'm getting out of the hobby soon .layed off cant afford it ,lots of mature big things will be going up for sale.I'll give heads up on the date when that will be happening.Maybe it will help you out.

Thanks for all the replies and offers! Hopefully once things settle down I can start replacing some of the frags and corals that I lost.

Have not yet had this happen to this extent. Have lost alot over time,(learning curve) but man this has excederin written all over it. When your ready for more I could chip in something that I haven't killed yet. Sorry to hear about the loss.
