So I am going to be getting my first carpet anemone. What to do?

It should be a Gig. I asked the seller and almost bid on it. He said he had two of them. I just prefer to see them in person before I buy, especially a Gig.

Good luck with it.

So I took a few shots for everyone to look at and whats everyone think? These photos are 2 hours after its been in my tank. I'm running hamilton 14k's which are very white bulbs. Bulb change to 14k Phoenix comes next week as I'm ordering them this weekend. Also this is a point and shoot camera and does it no justice with color

It moved itself up onto the rock over night and has layed itself out pretty good. Also seen his footing is locked down onto the rock, so hopefully he likes that spot than:spin3:

I will post another picture when I get home tonight. I put one layer of window screening to dimmer it a little. But I do think it will be just fine with the vendor already having it under 400w's for 2-3weeks, I will leave the screen on for a week.

Also does anyone have any good info sites for gigs? I find scattered info in places, but nobody really has anythign good on them

I have a Blue gig. Now that he is settled try feeding him a sliver side. then wait a week and try again.. I feed 1/2 a silver side once a week.

If he starts to move or get restless i feed him and he settles down. keep in mind a carpet specially a Gig can grow like crazy so keep feeding to a minimum and do extra water changes till your system catches upto the new bioload.. Nems are basically bags of dirty water.

Its extended out. The picture does it no color justice. All though I know it lost some color in the shipping here as it was extremly purple in vendor pics and now is faded. So Im sure it will gain its color back over no time. It also ate tonight which is a first for it in my tank. I am skimming wet to help bring the load down. I also do weekly water changes which should help. I did feed it a mixture of clam, octopus, fish etc as I have a food locally made by a reefer of all natural stuff and it seemed to love it. I'm going to get something fresh for it though as I'm sure it might like it better that way. Thanks for the help though as its a all new to me with this. Heres a few photos!

What type of angel is that? Almost looks like a Koran. Besides it getting too big for a 75, I wouldn't trust it with that Gig.

It is a Koran. It has never touched a coral in the five months I've had It. First one it touches and it will be gone though to the store or traded. I'm planning a fowler tank soon enough. It's only 2 to 2.5 inches right now. I know they get larger and planned on that

The clowns took to the anemone last night. Once the lights turned off, it was like clockwork as the larger clown found it immediatly and started moving around it and than finally thru it totally. Than I woke up to find them both playing it and now its being defended by the clowns as I put my hands in the tank and they pushed me away. The anemone swapped sides over the rock to the opposite side. It didn't release its grip on where it was on the rock with its foot, but I'm afraid it likes that side better or the clowns possibly are moving it as it appeared so? So I moved a bunch of corals out of the way just incase. It will have a very good spot if it does nmove into the cavern area I have in the center. Just hope it makes its decision perm. I know that there is more flow near the center from the K'3, so it may be finding that..... I have a video I will post once its uploaded of the clowns first time playing in it last night once it gets uploaded

So my video won't upload to photobucket. Appears to be too big. Anyone know anywhere else you can upload vids that are larger sized? Only two minutes of video, but seems that the HD camera part took a lot of memory

Also on a side note. I was wondering why the anemone has only moved now twice at night time. He never moves in the day time and stretches out nicely. I do run LED moon lighting at night and for the last two nights have ran them all night so the fish see the anemone right away and don't get caught up in him. Should i not be running them at all or only for a few hours like I previously was doing?

Thanks
Conrad

First full 24 hours that the anemone didn't shift or move at all. I moved him yesterday with his rock as I seen him shift towards the powerhead. Now hes getting a ton of flow and the anemone and clowns are very happy where they are. Post a new picture tonight:hmm5:

Decided its been almost two months and there has been drastic changes in color enhancing and thought I would share for everyone that gave me pointers and helped out, also just to show how these things even when looking good can look way better

that guy looks tons better! Has he stayed put? How big is he when open? I am looking into a carpet for my 250g setup.

Also anyone know with Gigs, since they prefer rock, as long as there foot is on a rock, will they stay on the bottom or want to make there way up the rock? I want my anem on the bottom of the tank in general.
