So I have digitate hydroid

ludiNano

I'm becoming...Brundlefly
From what i under stand digitate hydroids have stinging cells, that will kill coral and even leave welts when touched.

I also read some where with much argument that they cant live long in aquarium, but come back in sperts.

Is there any thing that is a preditor of these hydroids?

Or any other recomendations?

I have idetified them from Melvs hichhicker list. Dang u melv why couldn't they have been peacefull like butterfly's or something.

I have them in my tank and have seen no ill effects. I see them touching my sps corals all the time. There population was large at one time and have recently waned. Have not heard of a good reef safe predator. I wouldn't worry too much about them. Hope that helps.

well its gonna have to. there's a small patch on about all my rocks.

Have you touched one?

: ) thankyou

I've never seen them damage anything in the tank. I think they eat pods, I watched one devour a pretty large isopod once... it was amazing, the "whip" engulfed something several times its diameter.

I wouldent be worry about them. They will come and go.

I had many for a short while and they never bothered any corals. When I was feeding heavily I had more of these.

Like pretty much everything in the ocean, there are predators of hydroids. Specifically, there are some species of nudibranchs that specialize in one or the other of some species of hydroids. But, the problems lies in determining the species of hydroid you have and then trying to get a collector to get you the exact species of nudibranch that eats the pest.

I've never had hydroids be a problem in a reef tank. They're horrible if you're trying to breed your fish, though.
