i just added a bag of livesand to my already established tank.. should i expect a crash?
had 10 pounds in there. added 5 more..

As long as you only added a little and not so much as to cover the prior existing sandbed deeply, then you'll be ok. Even if you did I would highly doubt it would cause many problems. It should take no time at all for the sandbed to get back to normal, especially if you used the bagged LS. I commonly add a thin aragonite layer to my sandbed to increase its depth.

i have a shovel head ( diamond back goby ) named @$$hole because he drags hermit crabs around and bullies people. i added it to give him more sand to sift. more food. also my MJs are creating bare spots in the tank.

depends on filtration

hours
days
2 weeks.

usually you should see big improvement overnight if you have adequate filtration

Even worse is some sands really need to be cleaned before adding them.

But the settle rate as Sublime implies is different for every tank.

My eclipse 29g would clear in an hour, the 210 would take roughly 8-10 to really clear out.

I just rebuilt a 90 hex. It had barely a 1" sand bed, so I added 50lbs of silica to it.

I put all the sand into a rubbermaid and ran my skimmer and powerfilter on it over night. While stirring it every couple hours.

Even still, when I dumped it into the tank and filled with water, I had a sandstorm overnight.
