So I think its about time for another frag swap

Hey don't get me wrong. I'm no reservation committee. I say come one come all. I like and get along with all of them. As far as I'm concerned anybody can come. Thats what it's all about. Just threw it out there so nobody can grip or B**ch. I know you remember how it got. I definatly would'nt shun Frank ,Rob or anyone else. The only thing I dont like about any of them is they own a Saltwater store and I dont. Friggin wife wont let me quit my day job!! When is a time and place going to be posted so we all know for sure? Elchupa, your place, your time, let us know.

[In the past all bidding has started at one dollar per frag. You sell them or you dont. Specialty frags have started at a higher bid price. (ppe's,blue zenia etc.) Thats not saying anyone will bid of course!!If you dont want to get rid of it dont bring it. If your hung up on a price sell it ahead of time or dont bring it. These swaps are for spreading frags around so everyone has a little of something. Always been productive. Remember LFS's are not invited to the swaps. (we don't need that again) [/B]
Sure sounds unfriendly to me, I thought the seller always sets the start bid. I don't mind spreading my SPS around, but why should I pay $80 for a frag and start it at $1.00. I will trade my frags by PM till the SV/Tucson group figures out as said above,"If it ain't broke don't fix it". I thought the turn out was always good and exchange of info great. We even got to see a live "Zoo Nudi" in real life to show the the importance of knowing your source and QTing. Have fun at you meeting, John

Everyone is welcome at my house. If there has been a problem with LFS selling frag swap items, or whatever happened, I think it can be solved by simply asking the LFS owners in attendance not to sell the frags in the shops if the seller has a problem with that. I am sure they will respect your wishes. I feel like the LFS owners are an asset to us as local reefers, in that they have local livestock available for purchase and they have wholesale accounts, and they are pretty darn experienced as this is their profession, plus they need us to need them. I hope that the LFS owners will come with the intentions of advancing the local reefing community and not for a feeble attempt at a cheap wholesale order. The past is the past. Lets just get together trade some coral, place a few bids on stuff we like, try to learn something new, and most importantly make some new friends.
*****************
The frag swap will be Aug 4th, at 1:30pm at my house
*****************
(I will release my addresses as the date nears, University area). Please post photos (on this thread) of what you will be bringing to the swap. Trades are encouraged. Participants will also be able to place an unlimited amount of coral up for auction, at a reasonable opening bid (their choice, if they go too high, item won't sell, if they go to low, then they make a new reefing buddy that might hook them up some other time). We are hopping to have a lecture from someone on something taking place at sometime during the meet. Pizza slices, sandwiches, beer, wine, and soda can be purchased at the local market.

I think the issue of parsites, sick corals and disease should be addressed. If you have a coral that has been sick lately or you just had a infestation of zoa nudis or perhaps you have a really cool SPS but it has the red bugs, you know which ones I am talking about, PLEASE be responsible and do not bring these items, no-one wants them!!!. If you know there is a problem do not spread it to those around you, fix it, then trade responsibly.

With that said, I am pretty positive that there isn't a single one of us that wants one of the many "problem hitchhikers" can come with one of our new friends; yet many of us have had these unwanted "problems" occur in our own tank. If so-&-so trades you a frag with the bugs and it wipes out your system, in the end it is your fault for not quarenteeing the new additions. A quarentee tank can be setup for very little money, far less than the potental results of not quarenteeing.

Trading coral is like someone handing you a gun and telling you its not loaded. Its best to check for yourself before pointing it at your family and all the friends you have collected and pulling the trigger. In the end you only have yourself to blame. I know because I have made the mistake myself, with the coral not the gun LOL, and it was a ***** to fix. I will dip all the corals I am trading the day before just to make sure something didn't get by me unkownigly all of my coral has been in my posession for many months and has not have any known problems. Some weird stuff can crawl out of the little holes in our rocks, so lets do our best to give quality coral to each other.

Lets make this a great frag swap, I am really excited about the great stuff that is going to be there. Fun for all, come one, come all!!!

LETS SEE SOME CORAL PICS!!!!!!!

Here is what I will have for the swap. Most of them can be found on ZoaId.com. This is your chance to get some of my rare name brand zoos. I am up for trading and will sell what I don't trade.

The center front frag, Zombie eyes, cool red and blue zoo, also the latest addition on zoaid.com

cc93c5cf.jpg

Teal and Peach Zoathids, these are rare and super colorful, I am sure you all know how hard it is to get blue zoos.

169f6f19.jpg

Caribbean beauties. These I traded for with a reefer in Buffalo, New York.

Toxic waste a local find

d75f26b2.jpg

More teal and peach zoos, this is actually the largest chunk I have of these beauties.

fd2da1dc.jpg

Ok, these ones are super rare, and cost me an arm and a leg to get a hold of. They are unnamed, they are a vibrant emerald green and get a gold metallic layer over the green , they also have propellers (a mini propeller forms in the colorization in the center in case you are not sure what that is). I want good trades for them, or I just won't let them go, I paid per polyp for these and have grown them out. A real treat, one of my absolute favorite zoos. Oh yeah and there is some radio active dragon eyes in there...

Sparkling Bubble Gum

RPE on one frag
Sparkling pinks on the other

I have 4 of these ninja turtle acros available, Really vibrant green.

This is a huge amount of the emerald green/metallic gold propeller zoos combo-ed up with whamm'n watermelons, I am probably only looking for trades due to its high cost, these things help pay my rent each month.

85dee00e.jpg

Same goes with these, trades only, emerald green/metallic gold propellar with radioactive dragon eyes.

c957d207.jpg

THis is a RadioActive dragon eye, WHammin watermellon combo frag, The kicker is that blue palythoa on the right, I have sold a single blue paly polyp for $35 on several occasions, super rare, trades only.

Alright that is what I have decided to let go. Lets start some trading post up those pics. As you can see I am into rare name-brand zoos, this is just a tiny portion of my collection. If you have zoos that I don't have, I am interested, also looking for some of the rarer SPS, and whatever else you have got.

Yes Chup, 2x40W
I'd be interested in the Blue Paly, RPE and Toxic Waste, unfortunetly I don't have much of a collection of Zoas yet. I have some of the same ones you already have Blue Ice, Whamin, RadioActive DE. I do have a small Rose and possibly 2 stalks of Cespitularia I may bring. I will try and get pics up tonight.

^
I want the RBTA, I will trade you some of the zoos I posted for it, hope you get those pics up soon. How big is the RBTA??? My clowns will thank you...

I am getting excited!!! LETS SEE SOME MORE PICS of what will be coming.

I might also trade this huge super rare RPE showpiece colony if anyone is interested, it will take something big and rare to get me to let go of it. It was a hard find and you simply don't get them this big. It also has some big green grandis in there with it.

up for trade

O.K. here ara a couple of stalks of Cespitularia, anyone interested please let me know what you have to trade. These are very hard to come by and when you can find them they sell for $100+ per stalk.

I forgot to take a pic of the Rose, it just split 2 weeks ago, so its about 3-4" accross, it is eating Krill and Silversides. I will try to take another pic. tomorrow.

I also have some long polyp yellow/cream sarcophytons (toadstools)
2 Xenia Elongata (common strain)
I will get pics of tomorrow.

I am also looking for Ricordias and Fiji Pom Pom Xenia. Please post pics if you have any.

How well does that Cespitularia fair under high lighting, ie 400w 10-20k MH, 250w 20kMH? Its blue xenia right? Does it grow as fast as normal. I think I am getting at I might want some in a trade, I just don't want it to melt away under high lighting.

Chup,
here is a pic of the top done into the frag tank of the Cespitularia.(this is the actual piece)
Yes it is what they are calling Blue Xenia, I have been growing these for 2 yrs. and its now time to set them free. The stuff coming in now is coming from Indo. most of the people that are getting it are very disappointed as it melts away or does not have the coloring they thought. Mine came from the East African Coast about 3 yrs. ago.

And this is the actual Rose BTA
