Yes, I read through a couple of threads in the DIY and followed some advice from a friend, and after a little trial and error it turned out very well.
Mine is still "curing" in a plastic bin out behind the house.. wish it would hurry =)
Couple tips if I may.
1) Dont use macaroni like you may hear or read.. its a pain to wash out.. instead use rock salt or water softner salt.. much much easier to spray out.
2) I bought crushed coral from the LFS, but I hear that if you call around to feed stores in the area you can get a bag of crushed oyster shells for about 12$
you will need
Portland cement ( type 1 )
Sand
Crushed oyster shell/coral
Rock/softner salt
mixing tray
curing bin ( rubbermaid trash can )
Easy recipe
1 part cement
3 parts sand
1-2 parts crushed oyster
Salt
Warning.. it takes a long time to leech the pH down to 8ish..
PM me if you have any specific questions, I will do my best to help.. have fun, I hope it turns out well!!
