So my LFS had some frozen Argent Cyclop-eeze left in stock, is it fake?

I got a little excited ended up buying $90 worth since it's been out of stock for months at every other LFS in the area. To add to matters, there's no word yet when it's going to be around again. I thought it was worth the buy considering I have at least $500 worth of fish in my tank, $90 to promote good health with cyclopeeze is worth it in my book.

My question is this: The packages that I bought are cyclop-eeze only, not the ones that come with Piscine PE Mysis. I've never seen it in this form before, only in the double pack with PE-Mysis or in the bar form.

Another thing is the color. The cyclop-eeze I'm used to getting is red, but the ones that I bought seem more brownish in color although it could be the freezer burn. Did I end up buying fake cyclopeeze or do you guys think it's legit? Would be an awful lot of effort to counterfeit cyclop-eeze don't ya guys think lol?

Thanks again, just looking for piece of mind since I almost dropped a buck on it

I know mysis can turn brownish if it is thawed and refrozen. Maybe that is the case here as well. I'm with you though, seems awfully odd to bootleg fish food.

Looks fake to me. I've had some in my freezer for awhile and it is still bright red. I've also never seen that package before and I've been buying it for a few years. I'm glad I bought a few packs before it disappeared. I think I have two packs sitting in there right now.

I'm wondering if it will ever hit the shelves again? I read a rumor somewhere that Argent would know if they could harvest more in June, but I haven't heard anything since, so I suspect things didn't work out. :sad2:

Supposedly things didn't work out this season in the arctic lake where they harvest these things. I think they had salinity issues?

My LFS owner said the earliest we will know anything is next year.

Someone from Argent just e-mailed me a response, apparently the stuff I got is the real deal!

Thank you for contacting us however this is product that we have produced and is the same Cyclop-eeze product we have had for years. We have recently shipped product to Tropical Lagoon so it is in fact our product that you have purchased. There is no alternate organism being used in these blister packs. Cyclop-eeze is natural wild harvested organism and has variations from season to season and thus the color will not always be as deep red as you may remember it. In the latter years Cyclop-eeze has not been as red as it was 5-10 years ago primarily due to environmental conditions in the areas where it is harvested.

There is still very limited availability of this product and this is why we had to produce in blister trays and not the FreezerBar at this time.
