Here is a full shot of my 240. I need to update my thread with all of my new stuff soon.

Now sitting at 4 months since migrating our 180 to the 450 things are starting to settle in and the tank is begging to have a more mature look. Still have a LONG way to go, but the coralline is growing and the corals are very happy, especially since nitrates are being maintained at a constant 3ppm. The first shot is from day 5 approximately 4 months ago. The second is tonight.

Thanks, yeah it was actually a semi coarse grain sand bed about 3 days ago. However, for whatever reason (I have moved this tank three times and always used new sand with NO problems) this sand turned hard....really hard. I was able to remove slabs of it in one piece. Very strange. I may or may not put more sand into it in the future.

Thanks! Yes this tank is always a challenge because of the size. For example, I had a minor alk spike to 11dkh ish for reasons I am unsure of. I suspect my sand bed was trapping detritus do to it hardening and stunting growth. I let it fall naturally by turning the dosing pumps to half the dose....but then both parameters tanked! So I brought the pumps back up and did a water change. Now the demand is out of this world without the sand bed. My calc dropped from 400 to 375 in 48 hours and my alk went from 7.7 to 6.5 (checked with API and salifert). This is post sand bed removal. I am currently dosing 40ml of each a day in 35 gallons of water. Oh and I have AEFW, but basting off every couple weeks keeps them in check.

What fish do you have?

I have 4 fish, 2 clowns, a cardinal, and a purple/yellow guy (I forgot his name). It's weird. I was on this stretch trying to feed enough to get my nitrates/phosphates to be detectable for color. That didn't work so I tried manually dosing nitrate to 1ppm. After that, the tank just was acting weird. I started getting a lot of algae! Then I realized my sand was like a rock!!!
