You're in line right after Eileen and all the people in this pic:

:D

Just come over on a weekend afternoon. Then you can pick up some lavender candy cane. I don't want to drive all the way to SJ!

Stubbz, thanks for letting me know about the Pocillipora. I have it about 5" from the top of my tank under a 250W HQI. I think that should be enough light? The polyps are really pretty. In fact, my previous description wasn't very good, the polyps are tannish with almost a teal/turquoise green tips, and they are very long. You can hardly see the body it's so hairy!

Mines under 14K 250W DE's too and I would say it's slightly lower in the tank but not much. He's not bleaching.

Lamps are about 9 inches off the water if that makes any odds.

And yeah, he's not as hairy as the Acro Milli I took to the swap but because of the tightness of the structure of the Pocillipora he looks VERY hairy.

On the other subject running through the thread... I kinda like the silly coral names.

No, I meant at the swap, you cracked a joke because I was looking at the corals with a blu...errr..actinic light. It shows me the polyp color in a lack of lighting atmosphere.

I know! I wasn't actually referring to you when I said it! :D

And running T5s with 6 bulbs I have a good amount of constant actinic coloring then most halide tanks I have seen, so the light I had at the swap actually gives me a pretty good look at what I can expect....well except that orange polyped digi I got looked a lot better under that light, then my actual lights!
Hey I am new, don't pick on me yet! :D

I agree! I wanted to name corals after nasty sex acts, but decided that an actual name was prolly better on the whole. :D

That reminds me, I've got a congress-of-a-cow paly for trade....

p.s. Don't use the phrase - better on the whole - in the same sentence with -nasty sex act-. I have a filthy mind and I don't need to see that.

This was my first time joining this swap, the event was very well organized and I was very impressed with the way it was run. Thanks for letting us joining you guys.

I got

tyree birdnest
leng sy cap
brown cap with bllue pollups
yellow birdnest with green pollups
chocolate zoos(all my friends were joking about this, but it turns out beautifull) :D
some mistery acros with green pollups

I didnt win anything with the raffle but didnt mind contributing to the cause

over all I was very happy.

The only thing I saw on the table and really wanted but couldn't find when my turn came up was the Tyree blue flower thing, it was like a light purple or something with nice blue polyps.
Anyone know where that came from? I would love to find a piece.

Are those the chocolate zoos with the orange centers - I call them the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups.

If they are - then those are fast growers and as they propogate when they are small they have a faint white ring under actinics.

Oooh I think I got the ones you're talking about Eileen. They're not a tan brown color, but a dark brown with orange centers, and they're really big compared to most zoos. Kinda long skirts.

I might have found them in an Asst. Zoos pick.

Yeah, that's right.

I used to have a ton of those - brought them to the swaps.

I can't say about everyone else's but mine were from Bryan Kyle - Logical Reef.

Btw, as I said before these are fast growers and are excellent for frag swaps and beginners who want to get into zoas.

I cut my teeth (not literally :D) on these zoas and were hooked thereafter.

I also got one that has the same build, but has a different colored mouth.

I found out these guys like lower flow. They're not as *tightly* packed together as some of the smaller zoos (such as the purple mouth, green center, maroon skirt ones I got) and didn't seem to like my 75x turnover rate at all. =/ I put a small cut of pvc around to block the flow, they're all wide open now. looks really neat =)

Twisted,

I think the flower petal monti came from Randal. Montis grow like xenia in his tank, so drop him a PM!

I forgot I also found this one I think it's a rare but wife made me trade it for a nice Keyna tree:confused:

Note to self next time leave wife and kids at home.

How about a picture?:)

Thank you Cwolfus! I actually have to go to Monteray on like the 24th, and back down to the bay area on May 12th to take my daughter to a girl scout thing on the golden gate, so I have a couple oppurtunities to stop through and get stuff if I find something.
The club you guys have down there seems to make everything accesible. Our club up here everyone is so new to the hobby that there are only a couple of well established and stocked tanks, and not much for variety, but a few more frag swaps like the one you guys just did and that may change.

yessir =) Tonight after work I'll post some pictures (which means about 2am, check tomorrow morn =)

If you're going to be back and forth that much I'm sure a few of us can get some nice corals moving back and forth. Start a new thread when you are heading down! ;-)

Great idea ! Afraid I am new, so other then a couple of medium sized zoa colonies, I don't have much to offer yet. But you never know what I might end up with by that time rolls around.
