Great thread Newreeflady this is good stuff. I'm sick of swallowing water starting siphons - no more! I'd never have thought of just using a powerhead. More little tips!

1) heat vinegar in microwave before soaking power heads etc. Will clean off coraline much better and faster.
2) glue pvc rod to extra magnet for cleaning back of glass.
3) use an in-line pump with your python to clean sand (if u are the "clean my sand" type)

DIY to Kill nasty pest Anemones. FOR CHEAPPPPPPPPPPP :beer:


Go to grocery store and buy a 1 pound bag of Pickling Lime Powder (basically pure Kalk)

We're mixing Lime Water Anemone Killing Mojitos! make mine a double

you mixed that in a glass cup 50/50 with water (couple tablespoons each) (disposable glass good idea as it bakes hard on the sides during the boil)


zap in microwave for ~30-40 seconds. Careful it likes to boil with the Lime Water.

get it sorta thin oatmeal semi sticky consistency, add more powder / water as needed.

Take small medical syringe, plastic only, no needle. Get em at a pharmacy, get a couple sizes, pinky to thumb size, some even have curved tips used to flush out teeth/gums.

turn off all tank water pump circulation.

Take syringe, suck up some of the Ninja Zombie Anemone Kill dough goo, and do a quick dab squirt on top of any pest anemones, a good goo constancy sticks, so wait an hour then turn on pump circulation. Hear them scream in pain "I'M MELTING I'M MELTING I'M MELTING" :furious:

98% of all zombie anemones will perish. or double your money back. ymmv


WAY WAY WAY cheaper than Buying a 1oz Bottle of "Joe's Juice" or other overpriced magic pill answer to your woe's. DIY make your own!
