Danlun, thank you for your great advice. Just had a physical in Late October and I'm in good health. Blood pressure is great. I do the majority of cooking in my home and salt is not abused and we don't even have a salt shaker. We season with herbs and spices and I have been told my cooking skills are good. As I wrote in my initial post I have been working on this since June so this is not a resolution I started yesterday. My purpose is to make myself accountable on a daily basis to report in what I did that day exercise wise. I have been very diligent over the last 6 mo to consistently exercise and burn calories but during the holidays I saw myself slip. Had I had to report my daily activity to all of you, I'm sure I wouldn't have handled it the same way. And if I did, I would have heard from one of my partners here asking me why I'm not reporting in. That's what this is about. And I am offering up an opportunity for others, not just myself, to also have a forum to let others know daily what there up to in regards to whatever change they feel they need to make in their daily lives. Whatever it is you want to change, well, I'm not afraid to say "hey, you are slacking", if you are or not being accountable by not checking in. It seems like most people who posted are also joining in due to weight loss but my intention for this is for people to get honest about whatever it is they feel need to be adjusted in their lives. Continuing to get healthy is not the only changes I can make to improve my life. I can work on other things too; I curse to much, I lose my cool at times to quickly, etc. If weight loss is what people want to focus on that is cool because end result is we have helped each other improve ourselves but this thread does not need to be limited to that. Unless we are honest about our shortcomings, we won't change and if we don't confess our shortcomings to another then we just live with our little secrets but because we alone own them, we don't usually change them.

Hey Rik, I trained heavily back when I was still at UCLA, but I stopped my usual routine about 2 years ago due to laziness pretty much. I'm not as fit and athletic as I used to be so I would like to get as close to where I was 3 years ago. So my goal this year (before my wedding in July) is to get back in shape, so that means eating healthy, sleeping early, and exercising regularly!
yeah, you definitely did, your pic proves that. If you posted this because you want to work on returning to your healthier lifestyle of the past then welcome aboard.

Count me in! I gained so much weight while my wife was pregnant you'd think I was the one who carried and birthed our child. Last year the wife to be and I decided to sign up at the gym we both dropped 30 pounds a piece on exercise alone ignoring dieting which really is 80% of successful weightloss. So this year I'm hoping to knock off another 40 pounds and sit around 220 at 6'0" not a fan of being skinny never been and don't really plan on being skinny.

There's gotta be a nutritionist on RC somewhere! Lol
But I know everyone on RC is tech savvy you should all definitely check out an app called myfitnesspal you can add people and see there progress and daily meals and it helps break down your intake for the day week and month. It's pretty awesome if you can manage to load all your daily foods.
josh, I hear you man and it is a fact husbands get pregnant with their wives lol. welcome aboard.

So true! Every 10 days or so, I would pig out sorta like a reward for staying motivated. Having a workout partner more dedicated than me also helped a lot!
I agree. Although I said I was restricting myself on Thanksgiving, I didn't and I'm glad I didn't! I love thanksgiving meal. I did go walk a mile or two with my son after dinner. I have no prob allowing myself to have those kind of days. Your comment about your workout partner is exactly the purpose behind this thread getting started!

Thank you for that and I mentioned above I do own yoga mats. I thought about checking on classes at the gym. But honestly, I don't know if yoga fits with my personality. I need to investigate it further

Day 2. Jan 2

Walked up my residential hillsides to get to the aqueduct and then hiked trails for another 2 miles. Lots of inclines as well as declines and then another mile walk home. Total 4 miles.

Ate great today as well. Healthy cereal, no sugar, white flour or dairy. Plenty of fruits and veggies. Our church is doing the 21 day Daniel fast. My wife wants to do it so considering it myself

I am with you Rik. Congratulations for attempting to make it work. I surely can help reminding you here and there. However, I have seen that you have many eager partners already. I got the advantage of being an Asian. However, eating healthy and exercising is a must for all of us lucky bastards having more food than we can consume! :-)

A good shape buddy of mine at work got a stroke before the new year giving me a wake up call. Just because we are slim, it does not mean our vessels are healthy!

Way to go ahead Rik!

Day 3
Busy day today with this group buy stuff and all the things need to get done so not a lot of time for taking care of me but I managed to ride the exercise bike for 30 minutes at a good pace. Ate well too.

Reefing topic... Looking forward to giving the Reef Frenzy a try with my fish and corals!

So i would be glad to provide my services to take to SFRV meetings... like i stated i try to support everyone because with out our community and our local vender this hobby wouldn't be fun i also partake in community around the united stats.

Day 4 and Day 5

Not a lot to report but not because I was lazy. I woke up yesterday with a very stiff back and it just didn't let up so I made a decision to not push and I rested it with the intention of working out today instead. That didn't happen either. With church, life and family stuff and having to drive to the mid wilshire area to pick something up for the Mrs and then working online to start and finish traffic school which I realized yesterday is due Tuesday, there was no time. I'm still doing this stupid TS and won't finish until tomorrow. My plan is to walk to and from work. If I can get some other exercise in I will.

Did 1 hour of yoga (was nice to stretch) didnt eat a whole lot... now i need to start walking or getting on my exercise bike...
