SoCal Reefers Accountability Partnership. Who's with me?

Hey Brent and Rik, you guys are doing great. Keep it up. You have to make time.

Something I learned many years ago when I decided to stop smoking, once you REALLY decide to do something, you will. I finally decided one day that I was going to really stop smoking. Quit cold turkey. That was over 20 years ago and I haven't had one since. I do occasionaly have a cigar, but that is few and far between. No more of the 2 pack a day cigarettes though.

I guess I'm a bit lucky, I have to walk up and down stairs all day at work. No elevator on the ship I work on. ;)

Did 1 hour of yoga (was nice to stretch) didnt eat a whole lot... now i need to start walking or getting on my exercise bike...

even though a lot of guys would think yoga is [deleted] and only for chicks... that works some of my back therapy implements yoga to help strengthen your back and plus if you actually go to a class let me say there is a lot of distractions haha for them single cats.... love to see you guys hangging in there

This is a great thread for me too. I too started my new lifestyle change(hate to call it a diet) back in October. I completely changed what I was eating...no sugars, low carbs, and lots of exercise. My goal is to lose 100lbs and to live a healthier lifestyle.
I've since list 52lbs and my asthma is much more in control. I try to hit the gym 3-4 times a week and only work on cardio. I haven't ran since high school and my fat but was/is sweating buckets when I'm on the treadmill for an hour. I'll follow this thread and post my progress as I hope I can keep motivated by seeing other go through what I'm experiencing.
Here's a pic I took of my before/after I reached the big -50lbs.http://img.tapatalk.com/d/

24 hour fitness- Cypress

If any of you wanna workout together, I go to the 24 hour fitness in cypress! I do a lot of plyometrics, intense interval training and cardio, yoga, and basketball. I go from 7pm-8:15-30pm. :)

Don't know why my pic didn't come out. Maybe there's a weight limit on uploading pics:)

Hey bad santa thats great progress bro also you dont need to just run on the treadmill if you want really good results in that direction as in the gym try doing all body work outs for example squats and dead lifts. i point those two out because the work more of your body then anything and you dont need to go heavy. with those to exercises you work more then three body groups all parts of your legs, your core, and your upper body believe me i use to work out everyday until i started to have back problems now i can hardly workout just some tips for you guys that go to the gym and want a good burn

I too am looking to lose some extra weight.

6 years ago, i dropped about 50 pounds in 5 months... from about 240 to 185. It wasn't easy but doable...

i picked up a few pounds in the last few years, so now i'm back at it... started a few weeks ago and its already coming off quick...

i do believe in the subways diet... and that's what has worked for me with LOTS of excercise... I eat a 6 inch for lunch and a 6 inch for dinner... keep my calorie intake less than 1k a day... its a bit extreme, but i barely notice it. A piece of fruit in between or a healthy small snack.

losing weight is a combitation of DIET and excercise and both must be utilized to really work...

i would suggest to really keep track of what you are eating and guestimate the calorie intake. I do subways because they post their numbers and its easy to follow, no mayo, no cheese, no oil, no sauces other than honey mustard or sweet onion sauce. I always pack it with veggies and extra veggies...

i run about 4-5 times a week around 3 miles each time.

since you are older then me, there are health things for you to watch out for that i don't know about, so you can consulate your doctor on what is manageable.... anything cardio is great!
keep it up!

Really great to see some new people joining in! It is very encouraging. This thread is exactly what I needed to do. Ian and Arnel, thanks for the continuous support.

Day 7

I worked today at 7:30 and as soon as I finished I had to drive down to Van Nuys to get my money in for the ticket/traffic school since today is the deadline. Bottom line, no workout time. I am hoping to ride the exercise cycle and get some cardio in tonight but with back being sore, sitting on the bike might be a little painful but hoping for the best.

Rik i would do some stretches and then throw a heating pack on... and about that ticket ya i dont blame you.. you miss that deal line that ticket goes sky rock been there before lol...

Thanks. And yeah, ticket had to be paid today bc our wonderful LA Superior Court website or telephone system doesn't let you pay your administrative fees online or by phone and it wouldn't let me have an extension online and today is due date so I was stuck. Got this ticket Feb of last yr from a red light camera. Went to one of those ticket dismissal places and it took until Oct/Nov to get the guilty verdict but fine reduced. Anyway, it's done and behind me now

oh ya you gotta love them damm camera picture that get good mug pictures of you lol ive had a few no comment on that though.. that was when they just came out and i was young i still have a lead foot but smarter about it now

Hey Rik, been there done that as well. At least it's behind you now.

If anything, at least try and do some walking. Not brisk, but just enough so that it dosen't hurt your back.

And where's Brent? He go MIA already?

Good luck to the rest of you as well.

I'm not a exercise freak but do keep myself busy. I'm not one who can sit on a couch all day and watch TV. The Boss, wife, is always hollering at me to quit working so much/hard in the garage and come in and relax. I keep telling her I can sit and relax when I'm dead. I've always been active doing something. Got to keep the old brain engaged so it will keep working.

Hi RIK

Good for you! I recently lost a bit of weight and put it down to diet mostly. I found a book called "Eat to Live". Very informative and a real wake up call to what we are actually eating!

I wish you all the best in your quest.

I have been doing quite a bit of walking since June. I feel good when I walk, just gets a bit sore after. I've had two back operations so i know my back very well. I irritated it when I took down the Christmas lights. Must've been twisting. Today I woke up and it is a bit better so going on a good walk this morning. On another note, I think I goofed by taking 2 Advil yesterday to make work more comfortable and a couple on Mon when it was hurting after I exercised. I forgot I wasn't supposed to be taking it. I am scheduled for some minor surgery to remove a cyst off the back of my neck later today. Hopefully the 36 hr time lapse since I took it will be ok. Thanks for the support Ray

thank you

I feel your pain. After several dirt bike accidents and a few car accidents, my back isn't in the best shape. Motrin seems to be my friend. I think I did the same as you when I was taking down the lights this weekend. Probably didn't help that I rebuilt the front end on the wifes truck the day before.

Now I've got to clean the 400G monster.

Good luck with the surgery.
