i plan to go from a softies tank to SPS. Will the following corals cause any chemical problems for SPS during this transition?

mushrooms
Green Star polyps
xenia
button polyps

I kept all those softies you mentioned along side my sps without any problems. My GSP however grew like weeds and may not have been a chemical threat, but more of a real estate one.

THe buttons could be, dependent on species, but if you put them downwind, they'll be fine.

The mushrooms of discosoma species are safe: ricordias and yumas are another matter, and should go downwind.

GSPS WILL KILL ANYTHING IN PATH....TO ANYONE THAT DENIES IT JUST TRY IT

XENIA HARMLESS

BUTTON POLYPS...LONG AS THEY DONT TOUCH YOUR GOOD

MUSHROOMS.....HA.....THEY WILL KILL YOU IF YOU AINT CAREFUL

If there's direct contact, they'll burn them.
Again, depends on species. Discosoma mushrooms are generally benign, rics, yumas, hotter and possibly might spit into the water the same as leathers do. You may have to play coral chess: just watch polyp extension, and if you don't get good extension, and light is ok, suspect a nearby softie and move same further.

I have purple mushrooms and they will wipe out SPS. IMO, any of the described above should stay out of a SPS reef unless you isolate it.
