Solana tank owner thread.

Anything my BRS seems to be pretty good in quality. If I was dosing on my tank I'd probably go that route. I like that it said the internal tube was rated for a year of use. Most other brands seem to be shorter in lifespan.

Hey guys I have a quick question about my skimmer upgrade... I have the sapphire aquatics skimmer for the solana and it has been running for about 2 months now and the pump is getting progressively louder each day... anyone else had this kind of issue before?

I like the 20" Sunpods. I use the 250 sunpod and I have to top off and use about about 5 gallons about every 6-10 days. I couldn't maintain this evaporation rate without an ATO.

A 150 would be less evaporation but even then I would save for an ATO system. Using the bottles grew old for me after a month.

I personally don't like the look of a 24" fixture over a 20" tank.

Good luck.

Hi,

I just got my Cardiff up and going :-) Would you mind sending or posting a picture of your tank? I have a 24" on there now and don't like the look either. I'm curious to know who the SunPod 20" looks and how you have it mounted.

Thanks,
-chris

chiller

chiller

Those of you that are using a chiller on your solana, are you using the pump that came with your solana? Or did you have to go to larger pump due to head pressure loss?

I had a friend using a mag 5. Set it up as externally. Pretty damn smart if you ask me...

When I ran a chiller on my Solana I used the stock pump turned up to the max. It was plenty of flow for the chiller and to get water in the filter chamber. My water level remained the same.

Probably have to go through your LFS. Just order the Cadlights 50 gallon (24x24x20) it's only $350 and it's all starphire except for the back.

60 Solana

60 Solana

I get it , you guys just dont want me to be a member of your Solana Club:wildone:

I would 2nd that or have a custon 60 made with a centered overflow instead of ordering the 60 solana. Cadlights has a nice tank for the price. An besides if you order a solana 60 you wouldn't be considered a nano.:D

How deep of a sandbed does everyone have? I plan to upgrade the skimmer, any suggestions?? leaning towards the sapphire skimmer.

i really glad for info you gave me about this 50 g...This looks exactly what i was looking for and this guys are only a bus ride from me...
BUT is there any way to order SOLANA 60 g or it is a conspiracy of LFS not to sell it online

I have a sand bed of about 1"-1.5". The Sapphire worked well for me. I especially like it is custom for the tank and required no mods. I only sold it because I now have a sump to run a larger skimmer in.

Marine Depot has them online, but it's as a package around $2300. Way too expensive for what it is...

Ditto. Its pretty expensive.

I like the idea of the Cadlights 50. Not a bad deal if you ask me.

I have about a 1-2" sandbed depending on where my powerheads blow it haha.

I ended up turning off one of my modded 6025s and my frogspawn looks so much happier. Guess there is such a thing as to much flow haha

solana just ordered

solana just ordered

hi, i just ordered the 34G solana. for the heater, trying to pick either the stealth 100W (9 inches) or 150W (10.5 inches). My question is will the longer 150W heater fit in the heater compartment in the back? meaning will it stick out? I'd like to keep as streamlined and clean looking as possible. Thanks much in advance.

james

The larger version will work just fine. You can do up to a 20" long heater. I have a 200 watt stealth just so that it's easy to keep the temp constant.
