So you Solana owners, do you siphon out the back chambers while doing water changes?
I've put a flash light down there and see lots of gunk back there...can you successfully siphon out all 3 in one water change? I usually do a 5 gallon bucket, but I've never siphoned out those back containers...should I just do one at a time?

I like the T5/ MH look but 250W may be overkill. I have 150W and after putting a glass top on (to avoid evaporation) I wish I had a 250 instead of 150.

I used to run a 250 watt sunpod and it was ok. I just wasn't get the true colors of my SPS I was looking for no matter what bulb I used (phoenix/xm 20k/xm15k) I now run a ATI 6 bulb t5 fixture and couldn't be happier. The color and growth is amazing and the heat or lack their of makes it even better. I'm about to be getting an ELOS 70 and going to run this fixture on it as well, but thinking about the 150HQI/4x24 T5 combo. If I were in your shoes straight MH would be out of the question. I would go combo or t5 only.

I siphon the gunk out of the back chambers once a month. It's a pita, but the detritus really collects back there.

Thats a really good idea. I probably should do that soon but that has got to be a biggg pita to do.

I plan on letting mine fill up with junk till I have a natural DSB back there.
But seriously, I do not seem to be building up much back there. I will probably wait till I hit 6 months and do big tank maint weekend. Gonna need to plan that when my parents come down for a weekend and can take the kiddies out of the house.

Did you ever post your pictures of your connections for your ATO hoses?

Yeah, I siphon all three. It corresponds with my end of the month equipment cleaning, so it is easy to get into the chambers. It usually takes me 1-1.5 gallons to get all the gunk out. I used to try to scrape away the hundreds of sponges/tube worms that I get back there, but I've long since given up that task. It's annoying enough to get the detritus.

I have had my Solana up and running for about 5 months now. I was cleaning the stock skimmerr and knocked it on the side of the sink. The next thing I know the seems are split in a couple of places on the skimmer
. Any suggestions for the best way to fix the seem splits?

Weldon is your best choice for "welding" the plastic together.

Actually I tried that with my stock skimmer and It worked at first but came apart again rather quickly. You might try the Weldon 3-4 to glue then use #16 to lay a bead on the edges and maybe that will hold It together? Good Luck as Sapphire went out of business I have heard.

Yeah I use Weldon 16 and used it to attach a piece of acrylic to the back chamber with no issue. It is thicker and more gel like. Glue together and also run a bead along the edge just to be sure.

I guess I got lucky when I cleaned my skimmer cause it stayed together. *knock on wood*

I modded my skimmer and now it works too good and is unusable. The bubbles flow so full that they fill the cup in minutes. I can't get the cup far enough down to stop them from spilling out the left side, if you're looking from behind the tank, and into the second chamber.
Anyone have any ideas?
I actually took off the mesh but the two holes I drilled in the plastic tube that goes from the pump and into the chamber and the three holes I drilled in the plate you take of to get to the impeller are still too much.
