Any of you Solana owners out there that have the VorTech Powerheads been able to get a "wave" going in the Short Pulse mode? I've followed the instructions on the book and watched some of the YouTube Videos with no luck...I know it can be done...

Are you concerned about overflowing the rim of your tank?

LL

I have it on wave in my tank and you can adjust it so mine still stays about 1/2 inch from the top rim at the top of the wave. My corals seem to love it too! Just needs to be adjusted correctly so that it won't

Trigger,

I have made the wave with my MP20 as well. I don't use it in that mode but I could not resist trying. In the short pulse mode start the dial all the way to the shortest pulse setting. Then very gradually make the pulse time a little longer. The key is to have the pump pulse exactly when the "wave" has reached the other side of the tank and returned. The pump must pulse again at this exact moment or the timing will be off and it will not make a wave. For my MP20 this is under a second.

Seahorse moved underway...

Seahorse moved underway...

I have a large tank build underway, and as part of that project, we decided to moved our seahorses into a 34G Solana.

We have put well-seasoned sand from our 180G into the Solana, along with the first piece of zoanthid covered live rock. We will gradually add additional pieces of LR with seahorse-friendly coral over the next few days...

Today, after checking our water conditions, we moved the first four of our Hippocampus Reidi into the Solana.

Gathering at the live rock... a familiar hitching post from their previous tank. The scallop shell is their feed station...

Gathering of the ponies: They seem to be quite content, though the Zoas are still a little annoyed at me because of the dip they received before the transfer...

I will install our Sapphire Skimmer tomorrow at feeding time.

More LR and Zoas will be added over the next week or two...to form a semblance of aquascaping, but not the standard pile of rocks...

More pictures tomorrow.

Nice pics Light what corals are seahorse friendly and how does feeding work I heard seahorses are hard to keep

Many coral (and fish) are seahorse compatible. Here's a link to a list that is very accurate, IME:

I have found that even some cats are seahorse friendly:

The question has been answered several times in this thread. Realisticly it is not pratical. 250w DE bulb holders are different and the bulbs are longer. From what I see the 150 produces plenty of light. I have some SPS 5 inches from the bottom of the tank and they are doing great with nice color.

The girlfriends always love the seahorses... mine, too (my girlfriend of 28 years :D )

I think seahorses in a stock Solana is going to be a piece of cake... I am very impressed with water quality using just the stock skimmer and carbon in the center chamber. I expect further improvement with the Sapphire skimmer.

Now that I have the seahorses in there, I will be testing the water everyday. I'll let you know how it goes...

Thanks for answering, my SPS don't have a healthy looking for some reason. I though it was lighting. Even one of my lobo coral is fading on the bottom of tank, all my parameters are in the range with the small fluctuations, LPS will be affected by that? my acan is fine just lobo. what should I look for?
