Anyone knows if the euroreef nano skimmers work in the solana? here is one that looks like it might fit

I don't have the walmart nearby.....the closest one is 50 miles away.... Target, costco are not carrying this?

I don't see how that is possible, there is one in every small town of my state...Target and Costco would be 50 miles away...where in the USA are you living?

Is Sapphire is better than Tunze? I am choosing one recently. Hopefully, it will help me control algae

It fits BETTER thats for sure, it was built for the Solana tank, you don't have to mod it, I have not owned the Tunze so I can't compare, sorry. I hear the Sapphire is quiet and kicks butt. Ask around...

I am in Bay area of CA, i think the price of property too high to bring Walmart in the area.

has anyone found a proper way to cover the top back of the tank? I'm using a mesh screen cover for my tank, but it doesn't cover up the back corners of my tank because I have a phosban reactor and ATO tube running into the tank.

Also, since I have my sunpod sitting on top of the tank, I made the screen a bit thinner to accommodate the sunpod legs, therefore creating a small gap between the screen and legs. anyone find a way to close the gap?

Any gaps less than 1/2" or so should be safe. I have a mesh top as well and I made it to fit just inside the legs of the sunpod with the legs sitting on top of the tank 50/50. What I mean by that is the outside vertical catch on the legs does not touch the glass on my tank. They sit about 1/8" off the glass. This makes enough room for my mesh top to slide in between them and still sit on the black clips that were provided for the glass top. As far as the rear goes I made it large enough to cover about half of the sump section of the tank. That leaves about 1" in the far back corners open which I fifgured I would just take a gamble on. I have thought about getting some black foam and cutting some little pieces that would just pressure fit in those corners but I haven't gotten around to it.

Chaeto in 2nd chamber

Heads up to everyone, I had some chaeto in the back 2nd chamber with a light velcroed to the back of the tank. Pieces kept clogging both my overflow sponge and my return pump. So I decided it wasn't worth the pain and was going to take it out. So last night, I opened the 2nd chamber (had to remove my Vortech box) and put my hand down there, NO CHAETO! I looked further and realized what happened.

There was massive coralline algae buildup on the back glass right where my light was shining in, blocking the light from getting to the chaeto. Therefore, the chaeto died slowly and the little pieces ended up in the display, bigger pieces ended up stuck to the pump.

So, unless you want to scrape the back of the tank, be careful adding a light back there. I have no interest in scraping it, so I'll just not add any more chaeto. Wondering if I should keep the light on though, does coralline provide any sort of nutrient export? My wife likes the light back there as a nightlight (tank is in the kitchen) if she needs to go in there. Any thoughts?

great idea with the black foam. I may try that. I already had two fish jump out, and I think it was from the gap between the screen and sunpod. I may do what you did and push the sunpod legs a bit farther out and widen the screen. so far, I lost a $150 picasso and $50 midas blenny.

i also think my damn "too curious for his own good" cat was spooking them. ARGHHH!! DAMN CAT!!!!:mad2:

You could build a silencer. Here is an example or another example I have also seen them built out of small PVC in a similar manner except the holes were drilled in 2 endcaps and the endcaps were mounted on a short (1"-2") piece of PVC with the holes 180 degrees from each other.

Also, one of the big reasons the Sapphire is so quiet is it comes with a silencer similar to the DIY jobs I linked to.

It is the small cylinder with blue ends in the bottom right of this photo.

Reefinabox, where does that silencer sit, for this Sapphire Aquatics one? Can it go in the water in the back or it needs to be placed outside the tank?
