Solana tank owner thread.

Yep. I'm going to probably end up calling current myself to make sure it can be drilled. Other than that, I don't see how it will be riskier than drilling a standard tank. I didn't buy the solana for the all in one factor, but for the rimless/clean look.

The biggest motivating factor for me to even do this is for the skimmer. Second is to get more real estate.

FWIW I like the stock look of the solanas and if it weren't for the incredibly low price that I got it for, I prob would have either left it the way it was or bought a different tank all together.

I will def. have a build thread

Let us know when you start that thread...

 are going to read the thread in interest and curiosity, or in a "watching a car wreck but you can't turn away" kind of way?

Couldn't find that on their website...

It used to be there, cuz I was looking at it too. They have changed there site recently it appears.

I like it. I think it's perfect. I have it turned up all the way on reef crest and I have a mostly all SPS tank, so they love it. I first pre ordered the mp10 and got sick of waiting so cancelled it and got the mp20, and I'm glad I did. Now I've been debating doing the mp40 upgrade... This hobby is soooo addicting.

hahaha.. yes. yes it is.

I still remember walking into an LFS and saying 'how much will it cost to get those colorful saltwater fish into a 10 gallon?"..

The guy said "oh about $100-200" depending... and I said to myself "yeah right, I'm not paying that much!"

..LOL..

Where do you have the MP20 mounted? Dry Dock Box?

Yeah, I remember the early days when I got the cheapest softies I could find and thought sps were ugly... Now, that's about all I like. I have the mp20 mounted on the right side about 5-6 inches from the top. I had the dry dock, but didn't care for it much and I was just very worried about it.

Nirvana, in my case I removed the bio-balls and put LR rubble in the second chamber along with a carbon bag on top of the rubble, and after a while that blue pad that came with it got filthy and replaced it with filter floss. Been working for me, just my two cents.

Ok cool. Thanks for the info.
I'll probably look into doing the same. My bro has a ton of LR rubble in his sump for his 90g that I can take. Also would like to put chaeto in the back too once its all cycled. I know others have successfully turned the 2nd chamber into a little fuge so I'll check that out too.

Oops double post... doh

Here is a picture from today. I just have a lot of frags that are starting to grow. I'm ready for it to all grow in together and look more full, but I'm done with coral for this tank unless I just find something I can't resist... Just sit and wait now. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Lately my skimmer has been acting weird and in a short time gets filled up with water and doesn't remove anything, just water... anyone knows what is causing this? its the stock skimmer btw.

What did u add to the tank recently? This is usually bc of something added to the tank like stress zyme or epoxy

I've been feeding Dr G's live phyto and copepods every two days, think this might be the reason?

Never added Epoxy or Stress zyme

Edit: I added MicroBacter7 by Brightwell Aquatics throughout the first month but haven't done it since then.
