Solaris Led lighting systems

Fishdude1984, I was able to email with Pat from PFO and he told me that the 13K Solaris light is white not as blue. I had asked the question that if I purchased the 20K and lowered the Blue LED to get a white light would that lower the intensity of the overall light from the Solaris. His answer was yes, that is why they made the 13K version.
 
the acro? - it has over the last 5 days started to sort of ozzz/slime off some of it terminal growth layer off numerous branches leaving brown (so far) - I can't yet see white "bone" for lack of better description - this after 1) I was bringing salinity closer to 1.026 recently and the temps due to cooler days has been lower than usual - before with the halides the temp was often 81 during day hours but I would come home and turn the ac down to be more comfortable and wake up and the water would be sometimes 77. But since cooler days the temp has been 77 24 hrs a day. So I adjusted the salinity down a notch and turned the heaters to 78.7 and that is all I know to do and wait and see. My other acro is fine as is everything else. So, unless it is being attacked these are the only two parameters I can work with. wait and see now - all other testings are consistent with or even more consistent than has been the case since I got this one a year ago when up till now, the acro has grown from a single 2 inch stalk to a round ball of branches
 
For those who own this light. Is there a way to hang this light with wire or chain above a tank or do you have to use the uprights that are in most of the pictures posted
 
the light comes w/ eye hooks. But PFO makes a kit to hang. No one hangs them because we want them as close to the water as possible. Light penetration and all.
 
The pictures and coral growth look great. I'm just going to have to wait until prices come down. For my tank 6' long they want $3,344.00. That's alot of MH's replaced. Just my 2 cents
 
I was going to hang mine, then I remebered the trouble I had keeping my MH focused center with the weight of the cords at one side. Seeing LED's are more focused I decided the legs would be better,

You are correct. However you are not taking the energy savings into account. I just received my Nov electric bill, the first full month on the Solaris, it is $86 less than when using MH. Multiply that times 12 gets you $1032 savings a year. Tell me, what MH fixture saves you anyhting? Besides waisting energy, yearly bulb replacement on my former MH ran $180. In three years my Solaris will save me $3096 in energy plus $540 in bulb savings for a grand total of $3636. The unit more than pays for itself in three years. As a MH owner, I felt like the energy company had a syphon stuck in my wallet. No more!!! I'm very happy with the Solaris unit and thankful to Pat and PFO for doing the research, design and marketing them.
 
i put the Killawatt meter on my lights and it was pulling 407 watts
and I am having to run 2 200 watt heaters more often -

I know in the summer my electric bill will be at least $80 per month less because the room is not heating up forcing the ac and the chiller wioll hardly ever come on.

Could someone please post a 13k picture if they have one? I am just as curious to see what it looks like, because 20k looks way to blue. Also after some long conversations with solaris they said 1. SPS grows better under the 13k, not that it does not grow healthy under 20k just faster i guess under 13k. 2. You can hang the light and in fact they suggest you hang the light in order to get a certain amount of spread to the tank bottoms and tops depending on your tank height, they have a chart about that. Please post 13k pictures so I can get my order in...I am looking to get a 48" for my 120g.

Woow !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! thats awesome can I ask what and how many mh's you had? And my tank is 24" wide will I need two fixtures to keep my sps's happy?
