finaly got around to epoxying the foam rock wall but im having some problems the epoxy doest really go in crevises to well even as i brushed it all and dabed it in . so i ended up with alot of bare stops. any sugestions on how to get it to cover well im just a lil fustrated.

Not sure exactly how you want to fill the crevices but I have heard of people using a spray foam to fill gaps or make faux rockwork. I have never done this myself but a guy I know told me that he used something called "pond foam" not the yellow "great stuff" because it deteriorates.

it says 2009 production or something i dont have the box anymore but i checked befor i bought it . it seemed way way to thick. it was more of a gell consitensy im kinda mad right now . some parts of the foam ended up being really nice others ended up look dark and way to sandy.

Do you have both the liquid hardener and liquid resin? Is it Epoxy Resin? lol There are a lot of different types of epoxies out there.

Either way it should be more like a "Acrylic Paint" consistency then a gel. Maybe you got Epoxy Glue? Not Resin? I know some Epoxies only have a year shelf life, but doubt aging is the issue if from 2009.

Quick question...How long between coats/appliances was it since you opened the can/bottle? Once opened the shelf life drops a lot!

What epoxy did you use? Did you use any of the types we advised you to use in your last thread? It is a epoxy and not a polyester resin right? You can thin epoxy's with acetone and make them more brushable but it will affect the cure time. usually up to 10% reduction is safe and won't change it too much but make it much more workable.

Oh and you used great stuff yellow and not the correct pond foam to do this? If you did use yellow stuff it has to be covered or it will start to float little bits into tank and deteriorate. actually did it in the garage, only took about 3 months with a 24watt t5 before the foam just fell apart in the water.
