under actinics or not those are bad assed thanks for sharing

No problem. All I really desired to accomplish with this thread was for Folks to enjoy a picture or two of some neat coral. Glad u like them.

I think everyone needs to step back and take a deep breath. As Geoxman said, PM's are a great way to express feelings.

"But how do I know what I'm ordering from a reefer that is shipping to me? If I put together a list with names, it's gotta be better than saying , "I want the red one with green stripes & the blue one with a pink mouth & yellow skirt."

Pufferpink, to this day, I don't order anything by name. This is the way I have done it for many many years. No one ever ask for something by name until roughly 2 years ago. That's when prices shot through the roof and naming became a distinct marketing tool. Most everyone selling corals has a digital camera. I simply ask for a picture and say yes or no to that purchase. If anyone thinks that every polyp out there has a name, they are gravely mistaken, only the most colorful ones which can fetch a nice profit are named. To this day, I have yet to find anyone, not a single person who can show me 600, 700, 800 or 1,000 pictures of distinctly different zoas and palys with a name. It doesn't exist and it never will. There are so MANY choices out there and I just can't understand why everyone wants what everyone else has. This is a hobby, don't limit yourselves. I only wish I had a picture of every polyp and colony I have own over the past 14 years.

Naming, lineage, pricing and the reefers who have turned this hobby into The Great Race, The Ultimate Competition, King Zoa Collector and My Collection is Better Than Yours, when this stops, I think the hobby will once again rise to the level it once was. Pufferpink, I am not speaking of you my friend, this is just a statement that I have made many times before in the past. And my sincere apology for taking your thread off topic.

I wish this thread below would get as much feedback though. LOL

To be honest I have used "names" and when building my collection went after many of the ones I saw that other people had. Why? Because I liked them. I don't try to get all the ones that are named, but many that are named I want to own. There are also many unnamed ones that I own and want to own as well. I understand why some of you don't like the naming and stuff, but don't crucify those that do. Not everyone is in it for making money. This is a hobby and in every hobby people search for the popular things. To me that was a draw. To find that elusive paly or that one morph that just jumped out at you is/was very fun for me. Just because you don't like it doesn't mean its wrong or should not be done. Has it been perverted to make money? Sure, but many things in life are and will be in the future.

I am not upset or talking to anyone person as I respect you all and especially my friend Mucho.

PS. The lineage thing I am NOT into. Naming is ok, but just because your "PPE" isnt from "Blane" does not make it a PPE fake....

To me the lineage thing is pure and simple a straight up marketing scheme. Anybody want any RDDB's??? (Rev's Doo Doo Browns) :D

Out of respect for Pitcom, I think all further post not related to his topic/pictures, should be posted in the lineage thread.

Again, sorry for taking your thread off topic Pitcom.

AHHH group hug!!! pitcom no matter what- they are some bad arse looking polyps. Keep up the good collecting as you are getting a very nice collection going. You also have some mad camera skills which I have none.....Edit. I do not even have a digital camera?
good luck

LOL, I thought this WAS the lineage thread, until I looked at the subject line again. And Mucho, I hate the color pink (so why do I have so many pink zoas?)!
