Annie, I used BRS dry Pukani on my 150. I cured it for a couple months before adding livestock. I have heard stories of it leaching phosphates but don't think I had that problem. It will become live and encrusted with coraline before you know it. It is very pourus and full of nice hiding spots for fish and critters. JP

Depends on how big your tank is and how mature your tank is. If it's under 300g and been running for awhile, I'd recommend going with dry rock (BRS, ReefRocks, Marco, etc.) but giving it an acid bath (I can give you more details on this if you go this route) and then letting it mature in some water change water for a few months just to get over the initial shock. I don't like adding live rock because (1) risk of pests and (2) it's too expensive (I'd rather spend my money on corals/fish/equipment). Since you're moving soon, maybe you can start curing the dry rock and and transfer everything over to a new set up in Denver?

It just so happened that I did the curing in-tank as part of my cycle. I still acid washed it and all of that. I just let the tank sit empty for a few months. Well...I added a few tester corals because I'm impatient but it was essentially empty.

Yes, Annie, Jeff is right, his pukani is great rock. It didn't take long for my rock to start having plenty of coraline algae on it either.

Thanks Jeff, I'm really impressed with using flickr as a host. There's so much more detail that I typically see but doesn't transfer through when using photobucket. These last pictures were a fun experiment that just happened to turned out.

Thanks Rippin! We actually have a pair of the "blacker ice" clowns. Got them as little 1" babies and they've turned into a pair. I think it's just a matter of time for them to start laying eggs.

Thanks a lot Dan, I really appreciate the compliment. I took about 60 more pictures last night and not a single one turned out. Got frustrated and gave up. Definitely easier to use the off-shoe flash on smaller tanks.
 
These were with a Nikon D600, Nikon 105mm lens and a SB600 flash. No extensions or tube...would like to get some one day though.
 
Zibba, your tank is amazing! I just bought the same lights but I'm still weeks away from starting my cycle. Hope you won't mind if I ask you for some advice down the road.

Yeah yeah. My Galaxy S4 can take good pictures and receive phone calls. Of course, the pictures make everything look dead, but I can still play words with friends. Awesome pictures Eric!

Thanks Allen! That S4 is a sweet camera, Kristina got one a month ago or so and it takes pretty amazing pictures...you can adjust white balance and RGB and all sorts of things to get decent pictures from your tank. I still use an iPhone 4, which is ancient by today's standards and I can barely hear anyone through the earpiece. I blame the phone and won't give into the fact that I'm going deaf.
