Very nice sps!! How about posting some info on your equipment..Maybe some pics too? Do u use a doser? Calcium reactor? What kind of skimmer. Etc etc.

I have a build thread here on RC. I haven't updated it recently though.

Switched from a doser to a calcium reactor but still use the doser to maintain the alk. Doser is a GHL and CA RX is a huge Deltec. Skimmer is a big ATi 250is Powercone.

Oh gotcha. I'll have to go check it out. So your calcium reactor doesn't keep up with your alk consumption?? That's crazy

Well, yes and no. I use both for 2 reasons.

1. I already have the doser and when I got the ca rx, it took some time to transition from one to another.

2. I see both positives and negatives for both. Positives of the doser are ease of addition, negative is addition of too much sodium bicarb (high pH/alk concentration). Positive of ca rx is that it can produce a lot of alk and the coral media is very natural. Negative is low pH.

So I combine the two.

This allows me to also add some supplements to the sodium bicarb and negate some of the pH lowering effect of the ca rx.

I currently only run the ca rx for 9 hrs/day. I will eventually max out at around 12-14 as I like to run it during the daylight hours.

Once I get my big tank up and running, I will need to re-evaluate. I'm worried that I will start using much more sodium bicarb (currently only using 50ml/day), but we will see.

Regarding the marks,i personally have never seen something like that
Do you see them only on this coral?
Coral looks healhty though.

Those marks look like some kind of grafting that has occurred naturally. Only thing I can think of is that it was in contact with a green acro at some point and transferred some pigment. If you grow that out and it keeps those green streaks you can sell that for some big bucks.

Thanks Glaukos. Most are happy and healthy. Having a bit of STN on a few from alk swing but otherwise doing really well.

I only see the marks on that coral. I think it is natural. I'll see if it extends to any other parts of the corals as it grows out.

Agreed. If only I didn't buy a larger tank, take longer to put it up, and therefore kill most of the frags.
