Just some pics of the mantis shrimp I caught.
I saw it in a hole where I had seen it lurking before, pulled the whole rock out and put it in a bucket, squirted fresh water into the hole with a pipette and out it came in a few seconds.

(if these pics don't work I'll try and post them again!)

This animal is in the genus Gonodactylaceus. I can't see the telson well enought to make a positive ID, but it is probably G. falcatus. Do you know where the rock is from?

I would totally have guessed n. Wenn on that one. Gonodactylus, what is the telltale difference that made you know it was probably G. falcatus ?

What are you doing with the mantis? My husband had one and in our move he didn't make it. I am looking for a peacock. and would like to get it for him for our anniversary. I need to try and be stealth and hope he doesn't read this.
Thank you

Well maybe I am busted. I didn't realize I was automatically logged on as my husband. It won't let me delete it.
