Some questions for Michael please!

Hi Michael

Just about to put in a large order and would like some clarification if you could be so kind.

I would like to control my chiller through the P3ex but it's cord will not reach the powerbar. I was thinking to use the Expansion socket PL-0384.

1) Is this a good idea and do I use cable PL-0029 to connect it to the P3?

2) Do I use the optical sensor PL-0082 with the new Doser 2?

3) Is an optical sensor more reliable than a float sensor?

Many many thanks for all your help.

Hi

dragging me out of forum retirement ;)

High amps are perfect for high loads such a chillers as the constant switching can wear out the main power bar, also yes it will extend the range of the cord.

1) PL-0029 - Yes this is used for P3 its your PAB cable 10m long
2) This is up to you, personal choice
3) yes and no depends on your willingness to clean the optical, they do need more maintenance than a float but have no moving parts so in theory can last longer. They also have a higher accuracy down to under 1mm before actuation, the float however allows for a larger switching rise and fall.

Are you saying the Expansion Socket would be a better option for a chiller?
In the power bar 5.1 thread Matthias says...

All current powerbar models (Powerbar6D, Powerbard6D-PAB, STDL4-4) are already able to switch higher loads like chillers (15 A permanent, 160 A inrush current).

So I'm confused on the difference between the old powerbar, the new powerbar, and the expansion socket in this respect.
