something in red planet?

It's new coral growth. It looks great. Let it ride.

I am not sure if you guys are joking around, so I am giving my "straight face" answer.

It doesn't look like any of the new growth on the rest on the colony, can be seen between the first pics from 3 weeks ago.Doesn't seam to be growing in the same orientation as the rest of the colony either ,actually opposite the flow and light where the rest of the colony is sprounting upward and to the left. This is growing to the right.

Safe to say its not a hydroid or baracale?

Kind of looks like new growth to me too, but I'm looking at the pics on my phone. The new growth on one of my millis is white with new tips and branches.

that is wild! keep us posted! As far as what could mutate it, possibly the radioactive material Graves1s has inside that hammer!

Ha!,Could be the plutonium:hmm5: but I found it a bit weak.Just picked up a reactor from sedorsuc:bounce3: oughta work well with the Uranium Ive been enriching:bigeyes:

Can you tell if it fluoresces or has any luminescence? I've read a couple of posts regarding the phenomenon recently. I recall something about it potentially being associated with a virus.....

IMO, I think it's just a ray of new growth.

In the past, I've had many millepora (appearing) corals just kind of sit idle, or grow very slowly. But, they suddenly get settled in and growth takes off. This idle period has lasted as long as a year with some corals. All of a sudden, conditions are right, and boom.

I have also seen the "Red Planet" do it too. The result was quite similar. Pale colored rays that gradually colored in at the base, while the leading edge stayed light in color.

Again, IMO, that's what I think is going on. But, be it mutation, alien, or devine intervention, growth is a good thing

Well Done Steve!

Hmmm,I was kinda thinking that but seeing the other branches grow upwards and the base of the colony has really encrusted the rock I put it on,I didnt get why that one branch would grow white ,even the polyps were white, but looking at it now it does seam that they are starting to get a little color.

Well Done Steve! >>> thanks mark, thought you might be wondering how your colony was doing.

yeah now that i see it better its def a part of the coral. thats pretty awesome, and strange that its just jutting out so awkwardly.

Just pure white including the polyps but as Im noticing now some color forming but still very white.Well over 1" long and probably 3/4" wide.No florescent look at all.

Update

Does this still look like normal growth? Something just looks so strange about it.Notice how big the polyps are on the white -ish branch. The polyps have grown and are now larger than a head of tubbs blue zoa's.
