Great job SunnyX! Looks wonderful and I do appreciate your simple approach to reefkeeping. Something to be said for that!

Hopefully soon I will have my very own rimless Miracles glass tank. I take it that you're very happy with it??

Thank you :D

Simplicity is great , isn't it? :)

You will love your tank from Miracles. This is my second tank and it is great as always. Send me a link to your build thread when you get it going. ;)

Simple IS great... I don't have any fancy equipment either and I manually dose homemade 2-part......of course, my tank doesn't look EXACTLY like Sonny's :) but overall I am happy with it... and once I finally order my new bulbs I will be even happier...KISS unite!!!

How much Vodka are you dosing and how much Microbak7?

Nick

Hello,

I dose 1.8ml a day of Vodkaa day and 2 capfuls(10ml) of Microbak7 a week.

Hey Sunny!

I will be ordering the same tank from Miracles and was wondering what powerheads you are using for flow.

I was thinking 2x Tunze 6055's but I am not sure if that is enough for an SPS dominated tank that is 48x24x20.

Thanks!

how high above your tank are your lights.

I have it hung up about 3-4" from the top of the tanks rim, 5-6" from the water surface.
I try and keep it as low as possible so I don't have any light spillage.

Hey Sonny, Since your dosing is the same as mine I'll share a discover I just came upon. I've been noticing that after I dose the C in the morning I can almost watch cyano bloom in the display. So what I did was break the Microbacter7 dosage down into a daily amount. If I dose the M7 right after I dose the C, I don't get any cyano....Not sure if your getting this same issue, but just in case you do this seems to help.

When you say "C" are you referring to a carbon source such as Vodka, or vitamin C?

Vodka

Ok.

Yes, I had the same issue when I first got into Vodka. I guess my dosage was too high and I had to scale it back.

But looking around I found that it may not red cyano after all. Many people who were doing a carbon and/or ZEO, Prodibio ,FM, etc.. were getting this red cotton candy looking algae. I used a red slime remover and scaled back on my dosing of Vodka.

Now, everything is fine and I dose only 1.8ml a day of vodka.

I will try the daily dosage of Micrbak7 directly after Vodka dosage daily and see if it prevents the red algae from appearing again in my system.

Hey Sunny,

That is an AWESOME tank man! I am a newb to the hobby and plannin on setting up a 90g reef ready (it will be used so not sure of the brand but standard 4' long x 18" wide x 2' deep). Was woundering if the T5 light set up that you using would be right for this set up?

Hello, and welcome to Reefcentral!

Yes, please be sure to start slowly and take your time. Also, if you have not done so be sure to pick up a good book like The Reef Aquarium Vol. III

Oh and be sure to make a thread in this forum and ask as many questions as need be.

Remember, there are no stupid questions. :D
