cant seem to find if you've already covered this but,

do you miss the ripple effect from the halides? i know that i just have to add a point source of light but im not sure how to add that with an open top display.

buy the way i ordered my constellation today based on how you rave about it.

While the ripple effect is nice I cant say that I miss it. My old tanks had MH but I never really noticed the ripples. If you really need them I'm sure you can add a few high power LED's to simulate the effect.

Congrats on the purchase of the Constellation, you will love it.

Quick Update:

I swapped out an ATI Aquablue Special for a Aquascience 22k bulb. I wanted a Blue+ but couldnt find one locally so I went over to www.cherrycorals.com who only a few miles from me and picked up the bulb.

To the eye the bulb looks exactly like the ATI Blue+ but slightly brighter. One thing it did do was cause my corals to florescent much better then a Blue+ did. Basically, its like a Blue+ with a slight actinic effect.

I like it :D

Oh, and if you have never visited www.cherrycorals.com you have to check them out. Seriously, I seen some of the most high end, healthy, and unbelievably colored corals there. They are a sponsor here and only sell world class corals for the serious collector.

Sonny, how important is a oversized skimmer when dosing vodka? Currently my skimmer isnt large enough to take care of vodka dosing and an oversized tank.

Im thinking about getting the new cone from bubbleking. The largest watervolume ill ever get in house will be approx 150gallons total. My plan is to get a 120g tank. In order to not buy twice which skimmer(s) should I look at?

I say the bigger the skimmer the better. The new BK cone skimmer looks nice: http://www.premiumaquatics.com/Merc...ROD&Product_Code=VX-A250&Category_Code=Vertex

Especially when dealing with vodka and bacteria, you want to be sure that your tank is getting as much oxygen and turnover as possible. A larger skimmer will also aid in removing more of the bacteria and waste from your tank.

Plus, having a large skimmer is always a good insurance policy in case something goes wrong chemically in your tank.

ATB,ATi, and Deltec are also great. Lots of nice skimmers here:

Sonny,

Do you think it's possible to get the look of your lighting with a combination of DE 250W MH and T5s? I'm running dual Sfiligoi pendants, each with a DE 250 and 4 - 24W T5s. My current combination is Phoenix 14Ks and Giesemann Actinic +. The lamps are 6 months old and I'm not getting the "pop" I want. It could be the age of the lamps. . .

From your TOTM experience with MH/fluorescent do you have any suggestions for a more "eye-catching" lamp combination?

Thanks!

:D

I have used the Phoenix 14K's in the past and loved them. I ran them with a combo of daylight VHO's and it looked great.

I would do this with the fixtures:

FRONT

Ati Blue+
Ati Aquablue Special

Phoenix 14K

Ati Aquablue Special
Ati Blue+

This will give you great color and should be a PAR monster. I wouldn't waste money on the actinic bulbs as they are weak and not worth the space.

Looking great as always sunny.

My tank is pretty much the same size and lighting as your but i seem to have trouble keeping my pinks pink. My birdsnest and poci have both gone purple when then used to be BRIGHT pink like yours. Most of my pinks stay pink for a few months then slowly go purple.

I:m not currently dosing anything but did try AA and a few other zeo products.

Any ideas?

some nice acans you have there. Its funny how much your guys pay for them in America. We get $5 frags here in Australia (-;

Cheers

Aaron

I just read through all 30 pages tonight. Your tank is wonderful and has given me many great ideas for when (if) I start a 120 build. I appreciate all the time you took in answering everyones questions.

Wow Sonny that is an awesome coral list. I wish I could get some of those where I live. Things are looking great!

Hello Aaron :D

What bulbs are you currently running in your fixture?

And you are right about the Acan's, although they have come down a bit. Recently I went to my local LFS and picked up a nice 5 head acan for $25.

I saw on your site you added an aquascience bulb to the mix. Can you post a new FTS as well as let me know what order you have your bulbs in.

Currently this is what I have, and I like it but always striving for the perfect mix of color and growth.

Front

I wanted a 20k look, but I am also looking for a combo that brings out purples and reds.

Very nice Sonny, I too have deviated a little from zeovit by not using the stones and using VSV.

I am still using zeobac and plan to use some other zeo products like coral snow and pohls xtra.

Why did you change from VSV to vodka? Thanks
