Great tank, thanks for the pic! Love your aquascape....is that Marshall Island rock? Whatever kind it is, it is my favorite!! I just love all the "knobbys" in it! I was't able to get any of it for my current tank, but I had alot of it in my old tank in Oregon...I love the way it looks in a tank.

Thanks, Im not perfectly content with how it looks. I have two types of rock, Fiji and Tonga. Tonga are on the sides and Fiji is near the middle. I dont like my rock because my fiji was taken from nano tanks. So it looks like a bunch of rubble in my opinion.

I saw on your site you added an aquascience bulb to the mix. Can you post a new FTS as well as let me know what order you have your bulbs in.

Currently this is what I have, and I like it but always striving for the perfect mix of color and growth.

Front

blue +
uvl super actinic
blue +
blue +
pro color
blue +
aquablue special
blue +

I wanted a 20k look, but I am also looking for a combo that brings out purples and reds.

Ill try and get a new FTS up. I would ditch the Pro Color in favor of and Aquablue Special. But, if you want the dark blue look replace it with a Blue+.

Pretty close to your bulb combo

Blue plus
Aqua blue
Blue plus
Fiji purple
Blue plus
Aqua blue
Blue plus

Thanks

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm:confused:

Honestly, I dont know what would be causing the corals to shift?

Are your bulbs actively cooled?

Are they over driven?

sunny, can you tell me your dosing schedule of zeovit and how much you're using.

thanks

Sorry, but I do not dose Zeovit.

I currently dose:
1.8ml day of Vodka(40 proof)
3 drops of Microbacter7
1 vial Prodibio Reef Booster every two weeks.
4 drops Lugol's Solution a week

Very nice Sonny, I too have deviated a little from zeovit by not using the stones and using VSV.

I am still using zeobac and plan to use some other zeo products like coral snow and pohls xtra.

Why did you change from VSV to vodka? Thanks

I never actually got into the VSV, I went straight to vodka.

Beautiful sunny; quick question: Do you use zeostones and a reactor?

I use a modified approach as well with vodka, reefbooster and zeofood. My tank sparkles but my colors are pale. i just ordered a zeoreactor hoping that the biofilm it releases will provide more food.

I dont use any Zeo stones.

I have recently corrected the paleness of my corals by:

a. Swapping out an Aquablue Special for an Aquascience 22K Blue.
b. I have begun to feed roti-feast and noticed my corals darkening up.

Zeo stones are good as long as you shake off the bacteria a couple times a day. This way, the corals stay fed .

Sonny's Rimless Shallow Reef Tank is getting a Vortech MP40w Gen2!

Ordered a Vortech MP40w Gen2 to replace a couple Tunze nano's. I eventually want two of them in my 100gl reef but wanted to try one out first.

It will be going on the left side of the tank taking the place of the Tunze's. On the opposite side of the tank push water towards the new Vortech with my 3 tunze nano's along with the the Ehiem return.

Do you want to sell the Tunze's?

If so put me down. I need a couple to put in my fuge to keep detritus from settling.

One Vortech will be good for a 4 ft tank. I have mine on a six foot and pushes water to the end. Watch your beautiful sand travel up the water column!!

hopefully the gen 2's won't be as problematic as the gen 1's. while i love my vortechs i've needed warranty service 3 times in a year. i can only hope those issues have been corrected and won't occur anymore as thats too many problems for a pump of this price if you ask me. i am happy now as i have two fully functional vortechs that produce tons of flow in a random pattern. they are also more quiet with the repairs and upgrades.
