Hello Sunny,
will you be shifting back to using of Prodibio or continuation with vodka dosing?
LMK

Happy Reefing (:

Hello. :D

I will stick with the Vodka and MB7 for the time being. If I decide to switch up dosing I will be going the Zeovit route. I like Prodibio, but the inability to dose bacteria and a carbon source daily is what keeps me from going back to them.

With MB7 I can dose daily and I have found this to be the best method. The tank is not shocked by a large infrequent dose of bacteria, and my skimmer is pulling out more gunk.

Thanks, please let me know. My new 120g will be here in 2 weeks, and can't wait to get started

Well, here are the instructions from Brightwell:

Medium to High Nutrient Systems or to seed Biological Filtration in new aquaria:

To effectively decrease the concentration of available nutrients and waste material in all marine and freshwater aquaria, add 5 ml (1 capful) per 25 US gallons or 4 drops per gallon of aquarium water daily for the first 2 weeks of use; the impact that MicroBacter7 has on an aquarium is most evident within this period.
Turn protein skimming and UV-sterilization off for a period of 4 hours following addition to aquaria. A noticeable difference in water clarity is typically apparent within 30-minutes of dosing.
Follow same instructions for new aquarium start-up. Thereafter, switch to low-nutrient dosage (below).

Sorry guys and gals but no pics yet. I attended a local reef meeting hosted at a good friends home by MASM. It was great to finally meet some reefers as this was my first ever "reef meeting". I made some nice trades and learned a bit while also dispensing some knowledge.

I just wanted to update what I have added to the tank in the past month as I have added quite a bit of corals.

Thankfully I have some great friends locally and am able to trade and purchase corals at discounted prices. ;)

3x maxima clams(Only two now as one was traded)
Cleaner Shrimp
Watchman/Pistol Shrimp Combo
Watermelon zoo's
African Blue zoo's
Rasta Zoo’s (AWESOME!)
Multicolored acan's
Multicolored Chalice(my first one!)
ORA Miami Orchid
Deswali tabling acro
30,000 Leagues Lokani
Lime Green Lokani
Tyree Pink Lemonade
ATL Strawberry fields
ATL Pink Tulips acro
M. Setosa (SUPER BRIGHT!)
Palmers Blue Mille
Blue Turaki acro
Random Blue Stag (wont know what it is until it grows a bit)

I think that was all of it, may be forgetting a couple.....

It was a busy month of additions. :D

Sonny, does the orchid make it in the ORA top 5? Just haven seen too many pics of it..

Well, the one I received browned out before I put it into my tank so I wont be able to tell how nice until it colors up in a month. The Boralis is still the #1 ORA in my opinion. No other ORA I have exibits the color, growth, and polyp extension as the Boralis.

Hi Sonny,
Firstly, your tank looks amazing. I have a question regarding T5 bulb selection. I have a 6 bulb ATI PM with the following bulb selection:

ATI Blue Plus
ATI True Actinic
ATI Blue Plus
UV Lighting 10K AquaSun
KZ Fiji Purple
ATI Blue Plus

I was thinking about replacing the True Actinic and the 10k Aquasun with 2 ATI Aquablue. How do you think this bulb selection would be or could you please suggest something else. Thanks in advance.

Cheers,
Craig

Hello :D

Replace the actinic would be a good idea. I am not sure how you like your lighting but with an additional two Aquablue's the tank will be brighter and whiter.

If you do replace the bulbs I would do it this way:

FRONT
ATI Blue Plus
KZ Fiji Purple
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue Special
ATI Blue Plus
ATI Aquablue Special

You will need to move the bulbs around in order to receive the colors you are looking for but this should be a good starting point. The Fiji Purple is great at bringing out certain colors in corals you you always want to place a "Specialty" bulb with the first 3 bulbs from the front. It makes to sense to have the Fiji Purple behind the corals where no one can see the special effects it creates. ;)

If you want something bluer than a Blue+ and and Aquablue Special would be a great addition as well, but I have found that you do lose some pinks and reds with the ratio. Although, you do have a fiji purple which may offset this.

Either way, you cant go wrong. :D

Oh wow, and you purchase corals all the way from Atl aquarium. It's must be a far trip got your corals.

Well, my friends gets many corals from ATL and I simply trade with him. I am always out and about so it is hard for me to wait around for coral shipments.

I have a 4 bulb t-5 fixture. I want it to produce a bluer colors like yours do. What bulbs do you recommend?

This setup along with ultra clean water:

FRONT
ATi Blue+
ATi Aquablue Special
ATi Blue+
ATi Aquablue Special

That's cool. I live about 20-30 miiles away from ATL and there facility is really cool. They have a lot of nice stuff. They drag the corals when I want it, everything was ready to cut. Interesting how they handle zoos without gloves and protection.
