Happy belated B-day!! Also...thanks for helping convince me to switch to T5's. I got my retro setup yesterday and I love it. Right now it's a 6x80w running 4- Blue Plus and 2- Aquablue Specials, but I'm going to add another ballast and make it a 7x80 and add the extra Aquablue Special I ordered to balance the color out just right. Here is my current layout.....

THe last is what I am running now. good Luck.
Oh keep up the good work on your forum page. I visit it daily.

Oh, and just a side note here but I have been using Strontium for almost two weeks now and have good results thus far. Some of the corals that had stalled in growth now have new growth tips but unfortunately I am now getting more coralline algae. Some people like coralline but I really dont care for it. It gets on your glass and can be a pain to remove. Thankfully I have never had coralline issues on the glass and so far it is only growing on the pumps.

I will stick with the Strontium additions for a while and see what happens.

Which Strontium Supplement are you using??? I was using Brightwell Strontion, but switched to Tropic Marin Strontium Powder a couple weeks ago and will likely be sticking with the TM Strontium...

Thanks! :D

Glad the T5's worked out for you. Your placement looks good but you may eventually have to shift around the bulbs based on the placement of the corals. Blue corals look best under Blue+, red corals best under AB Special.

I am using Seachems Strontium powder @ one teaspoon a day. So far, my corals are loving the additions of Strontium. :D

Do you test your stronium just curous if you know what yours is. May i ask what you see is different from using stronium, and not using it. I always hear mixed reviews some guys use it some dont, and dont think its needed.

I dont test for Strontium. I have noticed increased corraline growth and growth tips in SPS that had slowed down in growth. If you conduct frequent water changes then you probably wouldn't benefit from Strontium additions.

All of my corals are directly down the center of the tank. I have about 4" behind my rock structure and about 5"-6" in front of my rock stucture. In the front on the bottom is where I have my zoas, fungia, clams, and my GSP. Everything looks good to me....just a tad bit blue right now....I actually just changed back to 3-BP and 3-AB and will leave it this way until I add the 7th bulb. I think the combo of 4-BP and 3- AB will look awesome and growth should be superb as well.

Happy Fourth of July everyone. This may be the last post before the split.

Nope. After mine you have 8 left for 25.

I'm sorry I probably wont be around for the split. Im leaving work right now and am looking forward to a long night relaxing.

Sunny, congrats when it does split for the second time. You are an immense asset to the reefing community. Thank you for putting up with all our stupid questions. Ill be checking back in the am when I come back to work.

Yea thats what i was thinking sonny, i think people who do weekly water changes really dont need to dose stronium. Im just wondering what bad may happen if the stronium level is to high.

Great looking system!

Sorry to hear about your mysterious coral loses. Sometimes things go wrong for no apparent reason. The 8 bulb combo would look great over your system. Have you been running carbon recently? If not, it would be a good idea to do so. You may also want to look into a Polyfilter or Purigen to suck up any chemicals in the tank.

Thanks for the compliment! This was an old pic. I have since added an SSB (Like yours!) of course. The look changed dramatically with the sand.
I have been running carbon lately. Hopefully this takes out any impurities that are causing the RTN.

Now if I can just get my hands on your dosing regiment I will be set!:)

sunnyx, are you using phosphate remover? I seem to remember that you rely on the vodka, bacteria, and heavy skimming but I'm not 100% sure.

Sonny, it's on in Fight Night. Swhaley40...I unfortunately stepped on my headset recently so we can't talk, but I'll give you a hell of a fight.

Sunny, how long have you been using Reef Crystals for?

I have been using Reef Crystals for around 8-10 years now. It has always worked great for me so I never say a need to change. Its really hard to beat the quality of Instant Ocean salt.

I use GFO after a water change and after vacuuming the sandbed. The GFO reactor is on around 5 days a month. I try to limit as much Po4 as possible. ;)
