Sony A7RII

Reef Bass

colors and textures
While up until mirrorless cameras came out I have been happy as a Canon shooter, I am currently feeling Canon is seriously lagging in both mirrorless and sensor arenas.

Comparing the specs on the Sony A7RII with the Canon 5DSR, Canon seems a generation behind, lost in a quagmire of no longer relevant mirrors and megapixels.

I very much love my Canon glass, but long for a mirrorless back with an EF mount. If I were to buy a new full frame back now, Sony would be my choice by a mile.

My admittedly lame hope now is Canon releases a mirrorless EF mount back before I can save up for an A7RII and Metabones adapter.

Anyone else feel similarly or have opposing thoughts to consider?

im in the same boat...i run Nikon but love Sony's offerings in the mirrorless FF category. I was considering a A7 body with adapter so i could have a nice backup or dedicated ultrawide camera in my bag that didn't take up a lot of space. Alas, it seems like Nikon is in the works for a mirrorless FF camera so i'll wait and see...

The original A7 can now be had for under a grand for the body. Even though it's an older model it is extremely capable. That body and the 35mm Loxia would be my perfect all around camera.

Canon is light years behind with their sensor. My next upgrade will be a Sony and some adapters for my glass. Dynamic range and ISO is more important than just cramming in more of the same tired pixelsites.
