Sorry, another concern about S. Gigantea

Thank you kindly for that info. I really didn't know two part wasn't as strong, I thought it was super concentrated stuff. (I have been traumatized by chemistry so I tend to shy away from fully understanding)

The only experience I had with Kalk is in the kalk reactor, so I just tried to extrapolate from that.....what a terrible outcome.

Thank you for telling me that info. I sure do understand not to do that ever again. This really stinks.

It is not that the two part is not strong or kalk is strong. Saturated two part additive are much more concentrate than kalk in term of Ca++ and CO3--
It is the pH of the solutions that give problem to your tank. Saturated kalk pH is in the 13 range where as the pH of your tank and two part additive is in the 8 range. That is why adding two parts directly into your tank won't cause problem even if you add much more Ca and CO3 and can bring these two ions up by a large amount. Add kalk quickly will cause too much pH increase even if the Ca and CO3 you added is much less.
Just make sure you add two parts separately in term of time in high flow area of your tank (in the pump intake or overflow) so that Ca and CO3 won't precipitate out of solution.

The most essential about adding Ca and CO3 is just make sure if you add kalk, add it slow and if you add two parts additives, add them separately
I wish I can get a S. gigantea:(

wow sugartooth those are awesome looking anemones. you seem to have overcome your early struggles -- looks like you're the gigantea boss these days!

where did you get them from?

Bonsai:: Thanks so much. My answer is no, I have never witnessed any spawning. I'm not really sure if I would know it if it did happen.

OrionN: Thanks for the clarification. After that happened, I have never ever added any supplementation to the tank again. All I have done from then on was water changes.

jonnybravo:: Thanks so much for your comments! That's really nice of you to say, but really I'm very much a novice and there are quite a few people here that are way more knowledgeable.

I am pretty sure that you would have known if one of them had spawned. I blue haddoni recently spawned -- the "act" itself lasted for about 45 minutes, and the tank was cloudy until the next morning. And the skimmer was going nuts for about 36 hours.
