It's funny Chelsey... I speak to Frank regularly and somehow some people know when Frank is going to get started when even Frank still doesn't know when Frank is getting started... :D The wheels are in motion though... he's planning the plans let's say... but far from anything concrete... I head to Hawaii next month again and we'll probably do some diving again... rest assured I'll update when things are in swing... As to my connections most are just friends... most of the people in the business as collectors/wholesalers.retailers etc. are fishnerds themselves... not in it for the money, and so we often think alike... they see a ton of the normal stuff and appreciate the different thinks that excite them, like many of the specimens I have... good old Frank at RCT for instance... if I had a nickel for every person that complained about his captive raised interrupta at $650 when they were available, only to now be in line to buy them when they do become available, I'd have a few dollars! I was a fan of Frank's back before he did anything rare and knew he was doing AMAZING work... trailblazing captive angelfish spawning a rearing... and if I were unmarried and 10 years younger I'd be working with him...

I was ready for an interruptus about a month after he "closed"...just a little too late. How does one join the line to buy his CB interrutpus...I need to get in line too!

A while ago I sent Frank an email wanting to talk more with him about his captive breeding but I never got a response back. I'm sure he's a very busy individual. In the meantime I've been doing plenty of reading regarding other peoples' attempts at raising Centropyge and making mental notes. I've decided to start breeding ocellaris and percula clowns for "practice" because the end goal of mine is to have a spawning Interruptus pair and hopefully have a shot at raising the fry! Obviously that's many years down the road and when I'm done getting my DVM, but it's something to look forward to :) Heck, I've even got a copepod colony and a mysis colony going, though I doubt I have the correct species of copepods to raise angelfish fry. At least my clowns are enjoying some live food :)

Looking forward to pics!

chris - where did you get the regal? looks great! i love small regals :)

hurry up John, we dont have all week... oh wait, i think we do!

John:

I am just getting into angels now that I am setting up a 120g (and hopefully another 2-300 gal tank plumbed into the same system within a year or so), and am going to be moving on from my trusty old 29g that is just too small for angels.

One of the things that I like to do in the hobby is get small frags an small fish specemins and grow them. It's one of the most satisfying things to me, to have a specemin start small, and allow me to raise it. I love that challenge.

I would love to get a juvenile angel (majestic or regal, maybe both) for the 120, but I have heard/read things that intimate to me that getting a juvenile to change completely in captivity is almost impossible. Again, I am up for a challenge, but I was hoping that you might share some of your knowledge and experience with me.

Thanks!

Regals dont change much, and I doubt a majestic would stay looking juvi. Almsost every one you'll see (including little 2" minis) are adult color. They are quick.

Angels rule. Period. People who dont keep them in their tanks should get out of the hobby!!! (insert sarcasm).

I am very interested to see if Johns, (Copps) Regal keeps that misbar or if it will work itself out overtime. Thankfully there is very good chance we will find out because the fish is in very good hands. T

Jeremy, So it seems the rare fish bug has gotten you BAD!!!!!!!! T Please give us some pics or I will have to call you out like Copps!!!! T

:) Regals are contagious :)

I agree!! I just picked up a beautiful red sea regal. It's acclimating as I type this. I missed out on the small one it was already sold but I only paid $70.00 for the larger one.

Where did you get it? Would the place ship?

Okay guys, I still have a bunch of people to repond to in the thread, so I apologize... but I did snap a few quick pics after midnight during feeding... I apologize as they are just quick snaps... I'll have better and more shots over the next couple of days including some FTSs... for now just some sneak peeks...

First off... some shots of feeding time in the sps reef... again it was late so only the actinics were on... and I used the flash...

And some of my large fish only... separated to transition fish in and deal with certain aggressions... a method I use and will explain later (it's 1:56 am and I had our kids today while the wife was working... so I'm near hallucinating now...) :)

The "left side"

And the right...

And I had to throw in two shots of this fish I'm so excited about... I would be stoked to have a regal this tiny alone... and stoked to have a regal with that pattern... but the combo is just sweet!

I'll have more soon...

Copps

how do you like your Diana's hogfish? I had an adult years ago, and it was one of my favorites.

Hey John---First off, very beautiful collection of fish, both tanks look awesome. Second, what temp are you keeping the FOWLR that has the Bandit in it?

If you look there are bandit's in both...;)

Looks sweet man!

FTS shots would be nice to put it in perspective, because it seems like you have every fish lol, but I have only seen pics of the two tanks...
