Soulpatch's 150 SC build

thats a bubble tip. They do split when they are ready and dont require too much other then decent lighting. You can have them split faster if you feed them though and for me there is a local market for the metallic rainbow nems that I have so I can get a few bucks for them as they mature out.

The one in my tank is already sold to a local guy but waiting on him to move houses before he takes it. I have my LFS already lined up to take more as I get them. The one is about to split again so I should have another $30 in a couple days. LFS doubles that for his sale but for me I sell em to whom ever for $30 once they get to a decent size and color. That or trade for things I want...

why dont they grow up to be those long once the once mileev has on his video the look like the always stay about the same petite size not grow gigantic like the buble tips at petco or whome ever else sells them here alike acc i bought from them and theirs went hungry didnt like my water parameters and stuff

They do grow in size. The 1 i have started tiny and is 3 times the size. The split pieces are tiny but the main piece does grow. Doesnt stay small.

what about this one it is ritery (majestic)

what about this one it is ritery (majestic)

it doesnt look so majestic i dont know what to do for it to make it happy tried feeding it didnt take it some times it blows up nice and plumpy and sometimes looks like this IMG_20170109_114804.jpg

I only feed mine to get it to split. Otherwise it gets what it needs from the water and lights. The one opens pretty large when it is not getting ready to split but my clowns ignore them. They would rather be in my large torch for some reason...

After reading the tank blow out thread I had to call up my insurance company to ensure I was covered. Thankfully the rider I put on years ago was still there so in case somethign happens and I have 180 or so gallons hit the floor I am covered. The tank and livestock would be a loss but the other equipment for the tank and home damage would be covered.

Though this is yet another reason why this tank is in the basement. I had 70 or so gallons leak from a FW tank a couple years ago which led to the redo of the finished basement out of my pocket (stupid me didnt bother to call insurance since I made the mistake of putting o ring on incorrectly so I paid for my mistake instead of through insurance...) Since then I make sure I am covered and go through efforts to mitigate any damage should issues arise.

Ordered the final parts I need to set up my calcium reactor (media, check valve, and such). I need to place one more order for the spectrapure pump but otherwise I should be good to go here shortly and have this thing running. I am super stoked...

Thats awesome. Once I get my new tank up and going I am going to have to invest in a Cal reactor. You will have to let us know what you like and don't like about your reactor as far as set up and performance once you have it up and going.

it appears I might be one of the first to use the new spectrapure pump for a calcium reactor. Slief has one to test but he hasnt set it up yet. They had been working with GEO but have yet to launch a partnership I guess. So either way it looks like I will be a test dummy. LOL

Also did you get the blue hoses and matching color parts for the Vertex like you were talking about? Did you post a picture of the matching CO2 tank?

I got a red CO2 tank as they didnt have blue and I didnt want issues filling it if I painted it. I have blue tubing for the vertex but might leave it red and white for the scheme. It will denote different parts. Similar to how my AWC is orange tubing with the orange DOS.

I moved my apex off the board and onto the wall of the stand last weekend thinking I could save enough space to have the calcium reactor in the stand but no bueno. I need to move the ATO or the apex outside the stand to fit everything.

I am not completly happy with the look of the apex on the side wall as I can tell I threw it on there. (will upload a pic in a second) I am still thinking I buy a bunch of extension cords and put the apex in a server type rack where it is MUCH better organized. Undecided though. Something like in the post below...

This is what i went from after removing the apex from my side out board...

Wow that was a mess! How you had everything wired with the apex before compared to how it is now is a major improvement. But I have to agree that the server rack would be even better for fuctionality and looks, especially with the attention to detail you have put into your build so far

Well no that before pic was AFTER it came off a custom slide I had made for the apex. I am WAY too OCD to have a ball of wires sitting like that. It is actually worse now on the wall of the stand then it was before. I thought I would gain enough space but I was wrong. I will redo it here shortly once I get a good plan. I need to do some measurements around the stand to see what all I have to play with. I might also run it into my closet I have down there so it is out of way and not as needed to be super clean.

Toying with a few ideas on what I want to do with it now. My one big idea is to move my storage shelving to the other side of the room by the fish fridge where I keep the food or into the utility room with the water change gear and that woudl free up space next to the tank that I could build a small cabinet for the apex gear to hide in

Just found this thread, great read and awesome updates. Im building my SCA 150 with the same stand and canopy. Drilled my overflow and added the returns on left and right as you mentioned on your early posts. I also have a ATI 48" and liked your mounting with metal slides, but how are they holding up with the salt? Do you have any corrosion on the brackets? I was wondering if it would be better to mount the ATI on top of the canopy.

The slideouts have no signs of decay at this point after a year in use. I didnt want the ATI on top of the canopy for multiple reasons but athestics and the opening would cut the spread of light were my chief concerns.

Here is pic i shot this morning of them...

You can see some spray on them but no decay whatsoever
