Source of RO/DI

Oh i'm addicted enough. Do I want to get an RODI machine? Yes. Can I afford one now? No. Thats where you guys come in.

I'm talking about, if i can't make it to the LFS, and CVS or Ralph's is a better option, what brand of water could I go with?

Yea, I hear you. Get a tds reader and test like the others suggested. Or come to scrk's next meeting as we are raffleing a r/o unit from bulk reef supply. Good luck with your decision.

I used the Glacier machines as my LFS sells RO that has TDS reading higher than my tap water. But you have to check because they vary from machine to machine. I ran into one that was dispensing water in the 70's and finally found one that's between 3 and 5 on the TDS meter. Not great but better than some other sources. If you're in a bind, I would use distilled water as oppose to bottled drinking water.

Not all water sources are the same. Putting a label that says Arrowhead or Sparkletts on it means nothing. Get a TDS meter for like 10-15 bucks and start testing. If you can gather the money, though, RO/DI machines go for like 50 bucks used on this forum at times. airwaterice.com sells a cheap RO/DI unit:

Check the sponsor forum before you buy it. There used to be an RC discount code.

Please don't flame me for asking a dumb question.....
I top off with Tap Water and put in Kordon Aquarium NovAqua Plus® Water Conditioner
Is this safe?

It's safe, because you're conditioning it, but not the best way to go. How old is your tank? How long have you been using tap water? Any algae / diatom issues?
