I just took the effort to snap a picture (on my iPhone) of my Space Monsters.

A few of you have already gotten them from our raffle swaps & annual WCR swap.

Just thought I'd put out some eye candy for you all.

Yeah, maybe the skirts change with different lighting. I think mine were "better colored" when it was in my SUMP frag tank. Now it's on frag rack on display tank... so some changes, I think.

Tom: you got the SM from me? or from another source? Just curious about reason for your green skirt.

ok. I recall giving you one, so just wanted to check.
Good to know it morphs into green skirt instead of the speckled skirt shown in my picture.

Interesting.

I'm a bit confused about the speckled skirt thing. To me, the oral disk looks speckled, and the tentacles look banded or striped. Is that what you are talking about?

If I understand corrrectly, Tom's polyps have lost the banding on their tentacles in favor of a solid green?

Funny. I wanted to compare lineages so I got a frag from colin. It probably lighting but so far his SM has a green skirt and more solid pink in the disk area. While the ones I got from an online vendor looks like Ron's. But then again im running only two 36 watt t5 bulbs over a 6" deep zoa/paly only tank.

Mine looked much more colorful before in my tank when they were growing out. I fragged them and they have lost some of their color (as well as being in slightly less light). They were 3" below surface before. Now try are like 6" below. Both under t5hos

Those are some good looking Spacemonsters. In my tank the purple is a lot brighter but the skirt and overall size of the polyp is smaller than yours.

Nice picture from an iphone, I just tried to take a pic of mine with my iphone but it didn't turn out so well. I ended up cutting my space monsters off the frag plug when I got it cause of aptasia, but they seem to be doing good, a new baby polyp started recently. Thanks to whoever brought these to the swap.

Here's the frag i picked up at the swapped. not sure who brought them in, it was labeled as palythoa... but thank you!!! One of the fastest growing palys i've ever had. it's sitting 4 inches under kessil a350s right now.

Nice. The banding on the tentacles is almost the opposite of Zero's. I can see how what you have could become all green skirted under different conditions.

Happy it's growing well for you. Please let me know when you have too many. :)
