Spare 20K Halide?

I have some spare Smartlight 65watt PCs I could part with if your workhorse 7 will work for what I need. I ran 3 of them over the 80 with actinics and liked the color. I am not familiar what your ballast will fire...1 or 2 bulbs? Or even if theyu are worth the same in general. Mine can be bought new for around $30 a ballast I think... But mine has a reflector and the endcaps so I would just have to check.

My ballast is just that....a ballast. It is brand new, never fired. I paid around $35-$40 for it a long while ago, but they still go for around the same price.

The Workhorse 7 is capable of running up to four 110W VHO's.

I wouldn't have a problem running one (possibly two) 65W PC actinics...the only reason I was thinking VHO was because I wouldn't need a reflector, and I already have a ballast to run two of them. Like I said, I just don't want two VHO's to make the color the same as with the stand-alone 14K XM.

To add another twist, I just ordered some Phoenix 16,000 from Hellolights. They say they are the cats meow. I will let you know.

16K's? I hadn't heard of them. I liked the 14K DE's.

I've heard of Phoenix bulbs...but not the 16K. Let me (us) know how that turns out.

BTW, I was wrong about that Workhorse 7. I got in touch with Tech Support at Fulham today (finally). They say that the WH7 will only run 1 VHO bulb...and that it can be 75W to 110W.

SO, I have ordered my new 10K XM and some VHO endcaps and plan to have that going by the end of next week. I couldn't justify the extra shipping to get it all here by Friday.

Oh yeah...Guys, I went to Angela's house today to return the bulb....let me tell you....I have some SERIOUS tank envy!! That thing makes my tank look like a goldfish bowl!!

I took 2 pics tonight of the same tank with the 14k and the 10k right after it. The color differance is amazing. I will try to post the pics in a few days.
