Spawning or pods?

Turned the pumps and everything off tonight to rescue the jawfish from the over flow. Then notice a big streem of white dots flowing upward from the sand and collecting on the surface. I tried to get a picture but its hard to see. Best way I can describe it is they looked like sperm. Small white balls with a tail. Anyone know what it was?

These are hermit crap larvae. Do yours move like this? Skip to 40 seconds.

Yep, that's them, not quite that big, but that's definitely them

Lol time to start putting some macro algae in your tank. You got hundreds of hermits to feed haha

Looks like most of them ended up going into the over flow and into the sock

Those are from left handed zebras, bit bigger than blue/red legs. I think it is difficult for them to survive to adulthood in aquaria but I sure would think it was neat! I don't think any have survived unless I have so far missed them. I have had them spawn at least 3 times. I have columbellid snails breeding too so there are probably tiny shells in there along with some in my live sand. Have not seen a baby yet though. They do make excellent fish food at least

Hard to tell from your pic. Could be pods, or the planktonic larval stage of most anything in your tank (including hermits). If it is the latter, they're usually short-lived in captivity- many fish and corals will see to that.

Thanks for the discussion. I've had the same thing going on for weeks in my tank and had no idea what it was. I figured that it was something good.
