Spawning??

I have three Bangaii Card juvies and yesterday the one I thought to be the male refused to eat, and the same again today. I have only had them for a week and the "male" has not been an aggressive eater so I wasnt overly concerned when he didnt eat. Now one of the "females" chases the other away to the far side of the aquarium when "she" drifts too close. I am hoping that the "male" is holding eggs and something isnt wrong with him. Any insight?

if hes holding eggs-- his jawline will take on a bulldoglike appearance.
Since you've had them for only a week, not sure what to tell you

Thats what has stumped me, I havent had them long enough to know how they act on a normal basis. I cant tell a significant change in how he is holding his mouth, but I didnt have alot of time to observe them beforehand. Will his mouth bulge more and more if he is indeed holding eggs as they mature? The other two "females" hold their mouths open a little, while the male is holding his tightly shut. I cant see anything wrong with him as far as his outward appearance goes. Has anyone heard of a spawning this quick?

My 5 Bangaii took 3 months to spawn. My male keeps his mouth shut at first, then after a few days with the eggs he seems to open up and juggle them around a bit, that's how I can see how they're doing. I scoop out the male when I start seing the developed eyes.

The first pair of bangaii's I ever owned spawned two weeks after adding them to my tank. Probably would have done it sooner but it took a few days to figure out what foods they prefer. And when they did spawn, there was no doubt whatsoever that the male was holding. In fact, every spawning as been very obvious, the males mouth looks similar to a squirrel holding a facefull of nuts. But he also had very large clutches at first, his last was a little not as noticeable, took me a bout 3 minutes to confirm instead of 3 seconds.
