Classic case of read the manual first!!!!!!!!
You do not have to do any of what you describe in the above
Please read the manual before even plugging your unit in!
You do not have to open anything to upload the new firmware.
Just plug the RS232 cable to the back of the controller and plug the other end to your pc, make sure you have profiLux control V3.08 loaded and download the latest version of V4.0 firmware
To clarify
1. You dont need any jumper
2. You dont need to pry anything open
3. The unit was supplied with the latest version of firmware at the time of manufacturer, since firmware can change quickly sometimes the revisions can come out during stock release.
This is a message to any new profiLux owner.
PLEASE PLEASE read the manual fully before even plugging the unit in, this will eliminate this sort of frustrating miss understanding as above.
Regards
Michael
Michael,
I did read the manual before even unpacking the power bar, probe or opening any of the cables included. Please do not make assumptions...
While I was READING THE COMPLETE MANUAL, I got to page 65 (second to last page) which talks about updating the firmware. I read it, but disregarded it because I told myself,
I don't have to worry about this, my unit is up to date!
Then I opened the rest of my items, connected the peripheral, downloaded the software from one Matthias' post. The first message that came up was that I was running an older version of the firmware and needed to update. I went to GHL's site got an older version of the software as a rollback. My unit worked, then I went to a post here in RC where Matthias posted the new manual, firmware and software. I referred back to the book because at this point it was clear, at least to me; that I needed to update my firmware if I wanted to run the new software. I downloaded the Fujitsu BIOS flasher from GHL, unzipped, located the new firmware but when I ran it, I got an error. This error was related to communication between the flasher app and the unit, yes after setting up the environment. At that point I went back to the book you presume I did not read and the instructions stated that I needed a jumper. I found one of my own, placed it, ran the flasher again and VOILA!...I was able to update and run the latest version of Firmware and Software.
There may be a different way to do this. But this is the way I undersootd it after following the the instructions written on the manuals.
Michael, my previous post was a sincere suggestion offered in good faith. There is no need for the 8 exclamation points in your opening statement. If I indeed made a mistake, there is always the option of sending a PM to clarify and for me to learn from my mistake.
It's perfectly OK if the unit arrived with an older version, the important thing is that it is working and I'm happy with it. But please don't point the finger at the customer
