Special Order Fish

Does anyone know where I could order a pair of juvenile Crosshatch Triggerfish??? DD/LA does not do special orders? :)

Thanks in advance, JPB

You will be waiting a LONG time for that one. You can hit up a couple places to keep an eye out but I haven't seen crosshatch triggers under 6" in a while, much less a pair.

NYAquatics seem to have more or the rare fish.

it is almost impossible to get a juvi ch let alone a pair...michael has a pair at nya but they are not juvi..the female is 6 inches or so and the male is around 8...i have a friend who is a diver/collector in Hawaii and juvi are just not easily found...he has not seen any small ones in a long time...can also try Kevin at pia but this is just something that is not really avail and if they are located they are big bucks and usually go to big time private collectors...

Yes - you can find them at the same location that has the winning lottery ticket being sold to you by a leprechan. :D

a pair is around $700-$1,000, depending on size and who is doing the selling...
Michael is selling a pair for $800 and the female is smaller than I have seen in a while though the male is typical at around 8...

feel free to pm me for the number of my friend in Hawaii who is a diver/collector...I got my pair from him.

If you find a pair, make sure they are an actual "pair", and not just a male and female of the same species. If the pair is not already an established "pair", there is no guarantee that they will pair up.

I know they are a different species than the ch, but my bt male and female was sold to me as a pair when they were just a male and female. They fought like cats and dogs for 4 1/2 months before they would even tolerate eachother. Now, they don't fight anymore, and are finally sleeping in the same rock. It was a very ugly 4 1/2 months, and there was no guarantee that they would even get to this point. I believe consistency in their environment helped them to get to the point that they are now...

Best of luck!!!

yes, and sometimes just because they were a pair in the wild does not mean they will remain as a pair in your tank...

Absolutely correct... We have to remember that just like any relationship, the dynamics of that relationship often change when fish are locked up in the confined space of an aquarium (or just even taken out of their natural habitat for that matter). As big as your tank may be, it absolutely cannot compare to what they have in the wild.

Wouldn't the relationship change if you were locked in a room with your husband or wife 24/7? Some people can't even be in the same city. Just something to think about when fish don't behave like we want them to behave in our tanks...
