Spider Web Clam

I have a 3 Inch Crocea for about 2 months now. It seems fine except I see a slimy spider web type discharge coming from the lip of the shell (at least that's what it looks like). If I wipe it off it comes back. I asked at the LFS where I bought it and was told it may be slime algae and to just observe the clam for now. It seems healthy and colorful, although I'd like it to open up a bit more. It's not clamped shut but not fully open either. Any ideas on what this is?
