Sprinkler Solenoid Valve?

So I need an electronic solenoid valves for a tank project I'm planning and an electronic solenoid valve is key. I'm wondering if a sprinkler valve would work in its place, cause a true PVC solenoid are like $200 and a sprinkler is around $20.

For the sprinkler valve to work and please correct me if I'm wrong it:

-Can't allow for any water come in contact to metal and would type of plastic play a role?

Anything I could be missing?

You shouldn't need to spend $200. If you need a 1", make sure you get a commercial grade rather than the homeowner line (Go Rainbird commercial or Hunter IMO.). Should still be around $20 or less. I don't see it being a problem as the insides are all plastic, but for safety's sake, I would have a contingency plan if the valve fails on/off. There are small solenoid valves out there for other uses if you need them. A lot of guys use them for different aspects of top-off ro/di.

that valve like most sprinkler valve operate off a diaphram. A solinode opens releasing line pressure to open the diaphrame. The solinoid and a tube that it opens/closes is made from stainless that will corode in salt water
