I think I'll use this CPR hang-on overflow. The 20 gallon might be temporary so I'll save by not buying an internal overflow and just use this one that's been sitting around.

This is what it looks like set-up with the aqua-lifter and all.

If I get one of these......

......then I'll need one of these gravel cleaners because Morays make a big mess. It costs as much as a middle-of-the-road canister filter and it's specifically designed to suck out crud and clean the crushed coral.

Here's the clay I use for the water dam in drilling glass. The water lubricates and cools the glass to keep it from cracking. Modeling clay is much cheaper than plumber's clay.

Here's the paint I'll be using for my display. The flat black is for the back and the gloss white is for the bottom as I'll go barebottom for awhile just to begin with until I know that I can keep sand/gravel clean.

Which of these do you like best? They all come from DRS F&S. They are Nano Zoo Pack, Nano Mushroom Pack, and Nano Soft Coral Pack.

pics with the shrooms look best. nice chiller!

i dont like those type of overflow boxes. id rather get the one with the u-tube and where the box outside of the tank has a two compartments, one to keep water and the other that flows down the drain

how often do you feed eels? someone said somehting like once a week or whatever. if anything, i would get some flow to push the detritus around, have a filter sock on the drain so it catches all the stuff and a good skimmer to pick up anything that is breaking down

I still can't decide on which nano pack. I'm glad you like the chiller.

I like the u-tube boxes too, though they get air bubbles.

This book has a lot of info on Morays. The section on feeding is quite lengthy.

The closed loop will push the detritus around. I'm leaving a filter sock out by bypassing a sump and dumping the overflow water directly into the skimmer. Whatever DOM and POM (dissolved organic matter, and particulate matter, respectively) doesn't get pushed up into the collection cup will drain out of the skimmer into the refugium.

i was thinking that if eels are too much, you could always add a look-a-like. my friend just fave me a convict blenny. looks like an eel, peaceful, reef safe i assume. its really shy though. hides behind the rockwork and then comes out when its time to eat

how much flow does that pump push?

Here's a link that tells you how much eels could cost:

How long will the eel be when you purchase it?
I would need a bigger tank, then I would probably go with the medium: 8" to 12" size.
