SPS and Turf Scrubbers

my understanding of the scrubber that was built based on how much you feed per day rather than tank volume is if you dont feed the tank enough the scrubber wont work properly. So my scrubber is designed for feeding 4-5 cubes per day and I was only feeding 2 cubes per day. My growth was ok at best when feeding less but as I increased my bio load and feedings, my growth on the screen has improved.

I think your scrubber is capable of removing a lot more than you thought. I feed 8 cubes per day, plus a sheet of nori, plus automated feedings of pellitized food 3 times a day. I don't know how many fish you have but I would substantially increase the feedings if your po4 is that low and your corals are affected.

Wow Paul...that's some serious feeding. You're making me want to install an ATS now!

I have 20 in my DT and 2 in my frag tank. There are a few more fish that I want to add and I should be full. I will work on bringing up my po4 levels.

Now for a bigger question.....how did you make your tunze powerheads rotate?????

The Tunzes are mounted on Vertex Moceans.

Paul,
Did you start bio-pellets with established tank or from a beginning ? i have try them with my established tank and i didnt have a good results so i went back to prodibio at that time..
you dont think ATS by it self will take down no3/po4?

mike

I started biopellets when the tank was established. I was using a sulfur denitrator and vodka. I put in the pellets, turned off the denitrator and slowly decreased and stopped the vodka.

They have adapters but if you mounted it on the eurobrace, it would probably be stuck out too far. I have mine mounted on the overflow.
