SPS Dominated 47G Reef

Hey peoples. I am sorry I havent updated the thread and havent had the chance to answer many of the PM's I've received over the past few months. :o

Life has been extremely busy and for the first time since I joined RC I've been away from the forums for a long while. I have been busy making up lost hours at work, coming home late and then starting to decorate my kids bedroom and helping the out with usual home life stuff. :crazy1:

During that time the tank took a turn for the bad...I saw good colours in my acros as well as growth and became complacent...the change in the tank and coral health took place too slowly for me to notice...:headwally:

Anyway, currently I am battling a very slow tissue loss on many of my corals. I have lost a few large colonies that I grew from tiny frags. I do have backups with friends, but that it not the point.

I am not sure if the TN is due to a relative spraying room freshener a while ago...but I am carrying out lots of water changes and it seems to be settling.

My once HOT PINK Milli is just a NICE BROWN Milli. :( When I look back at photos of my Orange Passion Acro I feel a deep sadness. That acro is currently brown with a tinge of green, tissue loss on tips as well as tissue loss around the base.

Baby is due any moment in the next week or two...I've made up most of my hours at work and decorated the kids room....things are less busy until the baby is born so I am taking the opportunity to get the tank in order again.

Hopefully in a few months time I will be back spending time on the forums like I used to. :D

I am planning to completely rescape my tank as well. With the growth of the corals I realised I had too many in the tank and water flow became impeded.

I had also collected doubles of corals or corals that I really didnt like too much. So the new scape will concentrate on fewer SPS and easy access to keep growth in check.

I will keep the sump untouched as this contains half of my liverock so as to retain some stability with the system. I wont make any changes until either the acros are healthy again or a friend can accommodate them in his tank.

I havent had a chance to follow all the wonderful build threads I am subscribed too...feels like I have missed out on so much.

During this time I've also realised that as a hobby, reefkeeping is one I could never let go of completely...

I am going to do a sneaky like Bello and Biggles and try to browse RC during worktime. :reading: So you may see a bit of me posting here and there. :D

Sooooo glad to see you again sahin buddy:beer:
We missed you man!:)

Happy to read that you are done with the extra work hours and i hope you will have your baby home soon!
Is it a boy or a girl?

Don't be sad about the tank.
I'm sure now that you have a bit more time, you'll make it amazing as before my good friend.
And don't worry about the brown corals too.As soon as you put your hands in/on the tank they'll came back to their colorfull state.
I wish i was closer so we could do the rescape together but i'm sure you'll make it awesome!
Can't wait for what comes next:dance:

Biggles and bello have gone sneaky wild during your absence buddy so act accordingly:cool::cool::p:p:p

Good to see you buddy glad that your being busy is for a good thing and the best part has yet to come..

Hey buddy sooo good to hear from you again and like mike said we missed you. Sorry to hear the tank went down hill, it seems to be happening to quite a few lately with Biggles Troub and Bello's tank also taking a turn for the worse. I glad you'll be a regular poster again:D. Needed your help two weeks ago with choosing T5 fixtures and bulbs but luckily Scott and Biggles were on hand to help (thanks guys:beer: ). I've also started a new build http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2424966.
Good to see you again mate, good luck with the soon to be little reefer:)

Sahin, nice to hear from you again. It means more than anything to us. Hope to see a picture of your future new addition to your family in a few weeks.

Sahin, there are two great reasons for letting your reef slide: family and work.
I'm very happy for you that it is no longer health that is holding you or your reef back!
You are an RC institution and as I have said in the past, I applaud and respect your dedication to helping people, here.
I'm sure you'll get that tank back into shape...
When your new baby arrives, I suspect (expect) we'll see a little less of you for a while and is Ok! Good, actually..
You think a reef is tough to figure out and deeply rewarding at the same time, well wait till the baby arrives!!
Awesome in every sense of the word..everything will change a little when it arrives.
Keep us up to date (we'll cut you a little slack) on the reef and the baby!

Very well said:thumbsup:

Hey guys. Just quickly dropping in to say my wife gave birth to baby Daniyal couple of days ago. :celeb3: Been a crazy few days. :wildone: My son and daughter cannot wait for their baby brother to come home. They are so excited over the new arrival.

I'm exhausted... :D

All my corals were transferred to a couple of buddys tanks. Their help at this moment is SO greatly appreciated.

Due to losing a couple of corals, and the fact that I wanted to reduce the number of corals, I decided to redo the whole display.

So big changes coming in respect of the tank...but it will take while due to the new arrival as I have loads of diaper changes to do...:hmm4:

:celeb1: So happy for you and your family mate, what are you going to use to stick him down in the house - i reckon start him off low on a cot platform in low light and once you see signs of growth try moving into a high light spot such as out the back yard. These type of frags are well known for discharging copious amounts of waste into the house display so perhaps use a 200 micron nappy until the frag matures and ceases 'sliming'.

My wife and her bloody mother took great delight in showing everyone pics of me asleep in her hospital 'comfy' chair while she was in labor on the bed......... and i was made to rub her back while she was in the 'soothing' shower by the bloody bossy midwife/nurse/jail warden - she would have scared you too Sahin.

Rambling again lol, i'm going to find a sweet acro to name after your boy mate :)

That is awesome news mate congrats on the new addition-they grow up fast:). Moving the corals would make it a lot easier for you at this time, definitely a smart move:). I look forward to see the rescape of the tank.

Congratulations again:celeb3:

Best regards
Fishy:beer:

Congrats, Sahin!!!
I didn't realize this was number 3!!
Good luck with everything and I'll be looking forward to your 'reborn' reef
