SPS growth

SPS growth

I have been reading the posts and I have a question. I am going to be setting up a 150 gallon tank. I was going to use the current nova 8x54 watt. It has 4 10,000K and 4 actinic which should give it nice color. It has two fans on it. What do you guys think of this fixture. I will be using a octopus skimmer and it will be full reef with all types pf corals including clams and sps.

Here is my 90, lit by 4 overdriven T5's on an IC 660, and a single true actinic on a workhorse 5, so only 5 bulbs total. All the bulbs are about 3" off the water surface, all of them are Geismann and they are 2 Aquablue +, 2 True Actinic and 1 Actinic + but I forget what order they are in...

I like the look, and especially the color and growth!

You think the 48" Nova Extreme SLR four bulb T-5 Fixture would allow SPS on the bottom of a standard 55g?

Hard to say. Certainly should based on the fundamentals of having SLRs plus active cooling. As long as they got the geometry of the reflectors right and the cooling right it should. Only 4 bulbs wouldn't cover a real big area though and also be a limiting factor for color combo. It would be better to start with a 4 bulb and add another as money permits.

KniLLifer,
Thanks for participating, very impressive growth man, uh i almost feel bad for your fish, with that kinda growth there will be no room for them in no time..LOL.. nice color too.

I kind of like the idea of having 6 bulbs for color options. I'm gonna wait to see what the new reefgeek fixtures look like.

Here is one from 6-22-08

The Aquascaping is a little different.

Here is one from Feb 4th 2008 when I moved the tank to my new place:

It looks a LOT different now!

I have a 72 gallon bow front. I am planning on switching from my 150w metal halide fixture to a t5 setup. I am woundering if I would be better off running a 4 bulb ice cap retrofit unit in my canopy or running a tek 6 bulb fixture with no canopy. My canopy will only allow 4 bulbs to be mounted in it. If I install the retrofit I will be installing a fan in the canopy.

Pito,
when the RG t5's come out and you call greg to order mention that you heard it hear first, and oh if you feel like it you could drop my name. :D

just say'n a referal never hurts:)

amazing growth, oh and i like the newer aquascape. :)

Thanks! I do too, now that is grown in a bit, at first I didn't like it.

HA, thats funny my girlfriend just asked me to give her an honest estimate on everything i have paid, "for fish sh*t" as she calls it. i was the proverbial "dear in the head lights"...

5,000$ she asks, uh yeah lets say 5,000ish that sounds good.

it has to be way more but what are you going to do right?
