SPS Macro Shots

.

.

Yes I am working on the focus thing. I do have a tripod but what I do is brace my arm on the stand and rest my camera on my arm as the lense makes the camera very heavy. I also use the 2 second timer.

Ill break out the tripod and see if that will minimize the blur. Hopefully we can get more pics going on here!

Thanks.

Unless you have a lens with image stabilization, or a body that allows you to crank up the ISO and get a really fast shutter speed while maintaining IQ, trying to get a sharp macro shot of coral while shooting hand held is very difficult.

Trust me use a tripod. At the magnification that macros zoom in at any little subtle movement will blur the shot not just up and down. Even if you sway back and forth the image falls out of the focal range especially if your shooting at 2.8 while your shutter may be faster due to the larger aperture the focus spot is very small. Even when shooting tripod mounted there's sometimes motion blur when I depress the shutter and the camera body moves down lol which is why I use a remote so that I don't touch the camera at all

nice pics guys. tdb, you pics got better really fast, great job.

you guys got me thinking I need to break out my camera and start taking some pics.

Thanks Franky, it's a nice piece with lovely colour. Pics don't do it justice.

Never does lol. I show people pictures of my tank and then when they see it in person they say wow is this the same tank it looks bigger and brighter in person. Somehow as detailed as macros can be nothing beats the eye in real life

Aaron, very beautiful corals and very nice macro shots. What are your camera settings for the first and second shots?
