Curious if you guys can help me out with a poll. haven't decided what i want to use for my sps tank just yet. what have you guys used and had good success with sps dominant tank.

What size tank ?

2 part and balling are essentially the same, and best for smaller set ups. With larger, it would be more economical to use also a calcium reactor.

i have a 93gallon with a 75 gallon sump and 40 gallon frag tank. would brs two part supplamented with kalk work? i hate all the mess and meth lab look of calcium reactors. i already have two 3 channel dosers i was hoping to make a clean set up with.

my previous tank was about the same water volume and i had a calcium reactor. it worked great but i didnt like the low pH.

I've used off the shelf two parts for most of my previous tanks.

Current tank is just slightly under 50G and I am using the Balling Lite system. There are quite a few who use 2 part/Balling for larger tanks, but it get expensive and a C reactor would be better economy.

An SPS tank over 100G I would say stick with a reactor. A mixed 93G tank for example you can still use 2 part/balling and it would be ok.

i have a 120 sps tank connected to a 40 Gallon frag tank and 60 gallon SPS tank. All are running off a 40G sump. I used drip kalk for the first year of my tanks life but just could not keep up when my sps took off.

I went with a bubble magus 3-channel doser and have worked my way up 95ml a day dosing each alk and ca. I am adding about .75 ml a month according to my notes. in 6 months it will be interesting, in 1 year very much so.

If money and space were no object i would have purchased a calcium reactor. Money and space are an object though.

Just my 2 cents. Best of luck to ya!

+1^^^^....and I and I'm sure many others would agree with Sahin on his thoughts. Depends on your uptake at that tank size, now that my 75 is starting to grow in those b-ionic jugs are emptying much faster

105g mostly sps, ESV getting expensive now. dose 1 min every hour on 1.1ml pumps, plus dose kalk throughout the night (helps stabilize ph and save on the bionic)

I appreciate everyone's input. surprising that a lot of people have gone the brs two part way. maybe because the average tank size is 75-120 and can manage without a calcium reactor.

sorry for leaving everyone dosing ESV out. i'm actually thinking of going that route and supplementing with kalk.

so if you are dosing 1.1ml each hour that's about 792ml per month
and if you buy the ESV 4gallon bucket kit that's 15200ml each bucket and should last you about 19 months. not bad for 100 bucks.

yes, I personally use the ESV bionic ... get the concentrate ones if you can, its a full 4 gallon of concentrate and lasts my 200 G system a couple of months.

I have a calcium reactor as well, vertex dual ... I turn the co2 on when needed. but since I moved recently the tank is still not demanding the full ...
